For those that have used both, what would you use.

The LW barrel is button rifling model, not polygon model.

Theses barrels are not my first choice but both are in stock and time is not on my side, waiting 12 to 18 months.

Proof. The barrel comes with a gas tube
I was under the impression, that a gas tube in included only on the "+" length gas lengths on the barrels, but not on the regular Rifle length gas length system.

Also, it appears, that the LW AR10 barrels just aren't as popular as the other custom barrels.

That is correct, you only get gas tubes for + length barrels.

The Proof SS will easily out perform the LW barrel as they are Single Point Cut and utilize a better profile (M110 Contour) for a precision based barrel.

Every Proof Barrel I've owned SS or CF has performed at 1/2 MOA or less with match ammo and reloads.

LW- barrels in "MY" experience are hit or miss and usually about average .75 - 1 MOA nothing really special.

Thanks for the information.

Due to age, I can't want for a Krieger and these two barrels are in stock ready to ship, so it was one of the other.

I saw very little information about the LW barrel.

If you would be interested I'd be more than happy to source the proof 308 barrel for you and assemble your upper.

Every upper I assemble has proper barrel break in done prior to mailing out with half 1/2 MOA or better proof groups included.

That must be why AI was using their barrels.
That said, anyone can put out a turd.
Since you have offered to broker a sale, methinks you have a vested interest in the outcome of the OP's decision.

Me thinks you know not of what you speak. Jake helped me with all kinds of stuff with my project. I will add, at the expense of his own time. He found parts for me and didn’t ask for a dime. When you don’t know what you’re talking about, it’s best to not question someone’s motives.

@bigjake83 thanks again for all of your help.

I love my SS LW 24" AR10 308 barrel. If I did it again, I'd stop at 20"; but 24" was sooo tempting.

I can question whatever the fuck I want to.
Apparently, you didn't bother to see that I "liked" his comment prior to you posting.
I figured nothing more need to be said.
Maybe I'll edit my post. Or maybe not.

Nothing wrong with a LW barrel, had a great reputation for a long time. The whole cut rifled vs button rifled argument is another topic entirely based on preference.

I never used a proof but I had a SS LW on my Armalite and it was absolutely amazing once it broke in. Break in took forever but that barrel was phenomenal, I shot so many groups that looked like bolts gun groups I stopped taking pictures. 8K rounds later and I rebarreled with another LW but this time it was a polygonal CM nitride barrel. So far it hasn't settled down yet and I expect it will take longer to than the SS. It's slightly under MOA, I expect that will change once it's broke in. LW steels are harder and when you add nitride to it… I think that's why these barrels take so long to settle down.

I have no problem buying LW....

Did LW set the headspace to a Armalite bolt or was it a DPMS pattern barrel extension and a DPMS BCG used?

It came with a DPMS bolt but my Armalite headspaced just fine, so I sold the DPMS bolt.
