Looking to have my 500 S&W re-barreled with a faster twist barrel. Would like the double action pull worked over and brought down to whatever can reasonably be done. It will still be a defensive stopper, 5" max barrel length type gun.

Looking at a faster twist to help run the 520gr, 500gr, 460gr territory, the stock 4" barrel was having a rough time with the 460gr long flat nosed hardcast loads.

I'm looking for a real gunsmith to do this, not a parts assembler, I've been there enough and lost enough hair.

The gunsmith I was planning on using has retired, seems many have.

Any recommendations for good revolver guys that will work on S&W?

Thank you for your time

Why not THEE man himself ?

I don't see where he would do something like this, looks like he either builds custom guns in his calibers or converts Rugers to them, old-school sixguns, looks like everything is single action only...? I'll send him a short email to start, see what he thinks. Looks like it may have to be a phone call

I don't want a single action only gun.

I sent the gent at tenring an email.

I agree with the Freedom Arms comments above, they are so perfect.

But for S&W DA's I like to use Frank Glenn. He's a legend in the revolver world, and getting old, but he does things the right way, and turnaround time has been very quick in my experience. Super nice guy too.

Here is the Smith that Alex built for me. A model 627 was the base gun.

Alex from TenRing is not interested in the job.
One of the others is not taking work, can't remember which off the top. Has a 2yr backlog so... understandable.

I appreciate the recommendations, hopefully I can find my way to someone who will take this on and do a great job, though haven't gotten there yet.

Glenn isn't interested either.

I found an HNR gunworks in Florida that notes they would take it on, still looking to see if other options are available, but if anyone knows whether or not this HNR would be a decent way to go, I'd love to know.

Thanks
