Is anyone currently making a drop-in bottom metal for R700 SA that takes AICS mags? I had heard you might be able to drop-in the Magpul system but that's iffy. Wanted to see if there was something more sure before I bought one and tried.

The Magpul bottom metal dropped right in a B&C Alaskan stock I have.

I tried this a few years ago with my LTR. It was NOT drop in. Ended up returning the Magpul BM and sent the stock off to CDI precision for inletting and bottom metal. Sadly I don't believe CDI is in business anymore.

The Magpul stuff can work with some minor stock modification, but I didn't trust myself to do it.

Others may have a different experience... this was just mine.

I had my McMillan A1-3 BDL inlet stock inletted for a KMW MK-2 Gen 2 DBM floor plate by LRI. LRI does outstanding work. It was perfect. Send your stock to them. You will not be disappointed.

The Magpul isn't going to be a drop in fit for most BDL inlets without a little work to both the bottom metal and the stock inlet. AICS magazines require more width than a BDL floorplate requires and most AICS compatible bottom metals require a shorter pillar depth so in turn stocks like HS Precision and B&C need some machine work. I used the Magpul DBM for a project last year because it works off the BDL pillar depth and it came out pretty well, it required some modification to the DBM but that didn't take much time at all.
