Setting up our third annual group night shoot, and this time around we’ll be having it at the Southington Training Facility in Garrettsville, OH on November 12, 2022.

Sign up form and more info is up online here - https://eastcoastnightshoot.com/

We’ll have the large open range open for pistol and carbine shooting and vendor tables, along with the 700m PRS style range with conex shooting positions and tons of steel. Have had a great time in the past (last year’s thread) passing around a bunch of demo units and getting to stretch things out in the darkness. Please come on out even if you don’t have a ton of gear yourself yet - there’ll be plenty to share.

I’ll post up updates here as they come in - already seeing quite a few signups for overnighting and RV hookups too, so that’s always an option if you want to spend the night.

Pressure is on to shoot a deer before then. Nov. 12 is about as good as it gets for deer here in Iowa...

So far we've got 40 folks already paid up and coming, and a great list of sponsors that have signed up to support the shoot and set up vendor tables - Mantis | Phantom Hill | Vortex Optics | Overbore Systems | Legion Arms | Low Light Innovations | Steele Industries | more to come...

A good portion of attendees so far have signed up to overnight on site, so it should be a good time throughout the night on the property.

And a special surprise, Bob and the fellas at Legion Arms have announced they'll be catering dinner, so no more need to bring along extra cash for that, they're treating us to some fine barbecue.

Here's our instagram page for updates: https://www.instagram.com/eastcoastnightshoot/

Haven't got my ticket yet but I plan to. Hopefully I can convince some others to come as well.

Gonna load up a bunch of 40mm to lob down range. Should have plenty to go around this time. Should I load up the beer cannon as well? Could probably make some glow tracers work for it. Guess I'll need to do some testing to make sure first. 🙃

Excellent. Heard through the grapevine there might be some 40mm action incoming.

I'll bring a couple of these plates along for folks to try out various optics without having to move it rifle to rifle as well.

Ok.....I'm in. ;) No doubt everyone will point and laugh at the poor (me)😒.......presently working on fixing a small maglight on some toilet paper cardboard inserts..........hope it doesn't rain, not sure how the cardboard will hold up....

You'll still have plenty of fun. Just don't shine your flashlight in everyone's eyes and make sure you get checked for lice before trying on my helmet/NODs :p

JW making it look like its not 9hrs from the Atlantic Ocean lol
😂 I’m not over on FB, but the other organizers that are keep telling me the comments about the name blow up every time they post something. So far I refuse to change it because of all the engagement it creates on the posts lol. All press is good press!

How's ticket sales? I'll order mine this week and get my buddy to confirm if he is going or not.

Was scratching my head there for a second with that layout.

Gotta check the date on mkms thanksgiving match. If its not that werkend ill be there. Never played with night vision before

I've got some of these targets to bring along. They are a bit used but work well. I usually just slap some adhesive shoot'n'see targets on them. I'll have to make some wooden stands for them first. I also have a used IR reflective sleeve that goes Overtop of them that I can bring. Figure I'll scatter them around the quarry range. Not sure what all you have planned for targets.

Had a great time this weekend - many thanks are in order to so many people that helped organize and run bays, vendors that attended to show off their wares and those that sent incredible giveaways, a very helpful property staff that hosted us and the 200 attendees that made the trip out through some pretty miserable conditions before things kicked off.

Was just looking back at some photos from our first few events, gathering at a local Pittsburgh range in Oct 2014 after I got my first PVS-14 -

Quite a change over the past 8 years, and been great to see the NV community growing and supporting each other. Will have more thoughts and many more thank-you's after getting a solid night's sleep, but those of us red-shirters sure had a great time. Thank you all

I had a awesome time again. Definitely a bit different than 2 years ago at thunder Valley. Still super fun. I was worried about the rain a bit but it was fine after that cleared up. Hardly noticed the cold. Definitely noticed some more changes to make in my rifle setup.

I took about 100rds of 40mm to the shoot and drove home empty. Probably shot 15-20 myself and just handed out the rest, loved seeing all the smiles when they shoot the M203. Nick Chen got some cool high speed camera footage that we should be fun to watch. The rock wall at 100yds was a great target to paint. I'd like to see what that wall looked like in the morning unless the rain washed it all away. The glow tracers and chemlight impact parkers worked really well too. I'd get quite the cheers when a round hit the wall and splatters glow fluid all over.

Biggest regret is not stopping by the long range. I don't shoot much past a few hundred yds but it's always fun hanging out with the LRS.

Food was awesome, prize table was amazing. Won a nice little vortex 8x25 monocular. Just missed out of a few higher end items but still super happy about it. Really amazing contribution from the sponsors.

I am excited to see all the pics get posted. If anyone has links to any of the camera happy attendees, post them up.

Also, one last note, not sure if anyone else noticed. But the sandstone wall made some awesome sparks when certain bullets impacted. My 9mm TMJs would just let off a perfect little blink of light visible to NODs as if I was shooting incendiary rounds. Even the slow moving 40mm rounds would get a flash of light when they hit the Rockwall just right.

I really wanted to get to shoot that 40mm but never quite hooked up with you. My BIL that came with me told me he put a round through it though… he got a real kick out of it.

I shot some 22LR and even that would make a little flash of light on the steel and quarry.

I’m pretty sure I’m attending every year east-coast night shoot happens again. Heck, I’ll have to go back to that range in the future anyways (day or night). The long range was very nice and I’ll bet awesome to shoot in the day.

Indeed a great time. Spent the first hour or so just sniffing around. Finally worked out on the quarry wall then took the MP5 through a small course. Checked out the long range but it was wrapping up there so I got to shoot from the top level later that night with my kit. Unlike anything I have ever done with my rifles! Thank you for all the effort on your part. Great food, great range, cool door prizes and I learned much that night!

Super bummed to miss but I'll say the deer were absolute idiots this weekend in Iowa. Petition to make this event sometime in October:ROFLMAO:

Where’s the aerial footage?

One day I’ll be in-country when you guys have this event. I know TNVC and a few of the other big “Players” have been holding similar events for 10+ years now, so it’s certainly not a new idea, but it seems like JW and team have built-up a fantastic annual NODiot Convention that began with a small handful of peeps a few years ago and has grown into a phenomenal gathering of vendors and enthusiasts — hence the “East Coast” I guess.

Appreciate all your hard work, JW. Maybe 2023 will be my year.

Everyone in Blackface! What kind of cult is this?
i made that joke once while operating an MX-20D IR camera (in AFG) … and I got chewed out by a supervisor.

Something along the lines of joking around while explaining (to someone else) the thermal polarity button on the IR camera switches between black hot and white hot depending on if you want to blow up white people or black people.

This was pre-woke era though… Pretty sure that joke in 2022 lands you in Leavenworth.

OK here is my video. Well Nick Chen was the one who took the video. I got nothing on camera cuz I was too busy having fun and didn't prep my NV recorders for the shoot. Hopefully I'll have some help come with me next year.
