Perhaps I am optimistic because I am "mostly rural and small town". I am close to Kansas City, and that is on a fast track to every other big city hell hole.....and some of that does drift this way.

In talking to the people in the area where I work, and in the city I think your percentages are wrong. You could be basing your numbers on what the press wants you to see. You never see the day to day good and only so called bad. Sure there are some bad people, they are people.
