Suspended production of Lapua cases for popular calibers.

It’s called Opportunity.

I wanted Lapua for my 300WM. Waited months on end for it. Got tired of waiting and bought 2 boxes of Peterson 300 WM "Long" brass.

Within a few weeks of me getting the Peterson brass, the Lapua brass hit the shelves... Cause that's how my life works. I was pissed. But I have zero complaints about Peterson brass.

I might buy Lapua next time... Just to try it. But it's going to have to be significantly better than Peterson to get me to say I wouldn't buy Peterson again.

I have been very happy with Norma, Lapua and Peterson brass so far. I have heard that the large and Magnum caliber Norma brass isn’t very good, but have no experience with anything larger than .260, which has been excellent.

I've heard 50/50 on Norma brass. Some say it's great, others say it's crummy and soft. I haven't tried it yet.

A farm/home retailer in my area has Norma 300 Win Mag ammo on the shelf... 150 gr hunting loads for $27 a box. For that price I toyed with picking some up and trying them out and then reloading the brass just to see how it worked.

But with things the way they are right now... As a kid I used to take my toys apart to see how they worked... I still have to fight the urge to do it now.

1:7 twist .25 CM now that heavy .25 caliber bullets are readily available. 👍🏼
I have a .257 blank on order. Cant wait to try the new eld. Hopefully it'll shoot comparable to the hybrids to save a little $$. Ill keep a 6.5 barrel also. The next one will be chambered for the 150+ class bullets

Same here.
I can tell you that I have over 20 loadings on a set of Prime head stamp Norma brass and pockets are still tight with nary a split neck to be seen.

I heard that Lapua is suspending some of the cartridges it makes because Europe is ceasing all production of zinc, due to the high energy consumption required to make it, but I cannot verify this.

Interesting...possibly related

I spoke with the owner of Alpha last year at a match and he mentioned that the type of brass alloy they use is in such high demand that prices are going up.

The dude from capstone said that military requirements and defense related production is why Lapua is suspending. It takes alot of time and effort to break down the machines to switch calibers, so better they do bigger runs of popular in demand stuff than break down and refit for shit thats going to sit on the shelf for a year. He also said Vit powder is in same boat.

Makes sense to me.
