Old school scope setup, so I used old school machine setup as well.

I've had this machinist trig book for over 20 years. I dug it out today to see how close I could get it. After setting it up I verified with the spindle probe and it didn't disappoint: .0003" for position while aligning this thing in the C axis of the machine.

Love the old skool rifle and scope. That math from the era of Eratosthenes is still relevant in 2022 is cool, too.

Oh hell yes. Very very cool. I do like how you shop is laid out like mine - everything you need is somewhere else. Especially the gages you need. Around here they are strategically placed where no employed mammal can locate them in a timely manner. Very nice work sir.

What thread mill brand are you using? I use them constantly and am always looking for options.

I appreciate you sharing this. I’ve long been temped by the 3x version of that scope to top a Pedersoli Missouri River Hawken 50 cal with a 1 in 24 twist barrel or my Marlin 336 Cowboy 30-30 with its 24” octagon barrel. How fine are the crosshairs in that scope? My concern is that they would be fine at the range, but a bit light for actual hunting, although probably still better than open sights. Have you ever mounted this scope on a muzzle loader or lever action and or would you recommend it?

I have no experience with this optic before installing it on this rifle. It's a 6x, and the objective lens is about as big as a quarter, so the light-gathering ability isn't much to write home about. The reticle (on a guess) is prolly 1/8th minute. It's pretty fine.

I have a handful of Unertyls, and they are mediocre at best during poor light, so based on that, I'd say this is a fair-weather player.

That’s what has kept me on the sidelines until I can actually look through one; which is probably never since no one really stocks them. I suspect the 3x might gather a bit more light and even with a very thin reticle still be better than open sights for hunting as both of these guns have a max range of 200 yards hunting wise. On the range it would not matter as much.

    Thanks again!
