MDT GRND-Pod

I just got mine from Snyder Shooting Supply with Arca clamp and am very happy with it. Gotta be a little realistic at this price point.

Yeah I got 2 of em during the mdt sale. I am tired of always having to move my tbac or accutac to a different gun and bag and will just put one of these in each of my regular bags and then I at least won't get there and realize I left my bipod . Seems like a lot of bipod for the money

Overall it's a correct Bipod, just not up to the standard I was expecting from an MDT product.
BUT it's a low price MDT product and that has to be considered and on sale it's even better unless you can get an Atlas at a similar price (which i doubt).

Mine is not on my Tikka T1x 17hmr in MDT ACC chassis and works well for this setup.

So how does it feel compared to a Harris or atlas.

Fab Defense Spike are $89 on DVOR right now a way more stable bipod. just need to find an Mlock to arca clamp.

After receiving the picatinny version I'd like to be able to swap an arms 17 mount on it so I could use the RRS combo mount on it. Anyone know if they're available separately? @MDT_OFFICIAL @MDT_Josh
We don't currently offer any of the heads separately like we do for the Ckye-Pod, and the ARMS-17 interface is exclusively at Brownell's for the time being.

Sorry,
Josh

Should have been made that way in the first place. Thinking I might be able to fix it on the mill. :)

20/20 hind sight in this case, and when we started the project, it was determined that we would ideally launch with the Picatinny and RRS Dovetail well as a sling swivel attachment. The picatinny and RRS Dovetail were achievable, but we couldn't find a way to make the sling swivel mount economical enough to fit the same cost target, so that is under future development!

The ARMS-17 interface wasn't even on our radar until Brownell's requested it for their own version.

Any plans for a taller version of the GRND-pod?

I have a single 6-9 Harris for bench shooting.

Every other situation I grab the ckye-pod and I'm well over 9". Grass and such is a bitch. Hunting I like to use my pack as a back bag so I'm well above 9". I have 3 Harris 9-13" notched legs and they're waiting to be replaced on hunting rifles.

Basically I can't come up with a reason to buy the grnd-pod unless you guys release a taller one! I would like one that's simpler than the ckye-pod for hunting, and I'm not a fan of Atlas.

You guys should make the cyke pod feet available online so we can change out the rubber feet on the grd pod

It's easy enough for us to make a taller variant and something we'll have to look at once we can keep the current model in stock! That's our #1 priority (along with fixing some things users have complained about) right now.

I'll be waiting. I'll order 1 as soon as it's available. And I'll have 2-4 more on the way as soon as I get the one in my hands if it's anywhere near as good as it looks.

@MDT_Josh (or anyone that knows),

I have a question about the Atlas feet compatibility. I don't own an Atlas so I don't know the difference in the models. The GrndPod says compatible with Atlas feet, so when I shop around for options like the HawkHill Talons, there are two Atlas options to choose. Which one is compatible with the GrndPod?

Thanks in advance

This one.

I'm begging for a longer one. I just can't justify one at such a short height for my uses. I'm not a believer in trying to get as low as possible, I like to be comfortable, and I'm not that thin.
So I’m thinking since this bipod accepts Atlas feet, it should also accept their extension tubes, which would get you higher.

So far I have only dry fired this bipod but I like it. I just installed the hawk talons, they fit great. The only negative feedback from me is the clamp knob (as others have said too). I'll source a better one.

Let me know if u get another knob gotta change mine also. Thanks

I replaced the knob and tried something a bit different because I wasn't excited about a plastic one. This allows you to grip and twist hard and keeps a low profile.

First I bought this--

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Liberty...lIcaDxjzoj9oSbA53nhoC7AYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Then I drilled and tapped it to 10-32, drove in a stainless 10-32 threadstock to length and it came out pretty good. I also put in inkpen springs like others in this thread. You have to cut a few spring coils off because if left too long, they keep the clamp from closing all the way.

Anyone with the Arca version have issues with it sliding on the rail with recoil. As tight as I can get it and it walks ever so slightly on both my 260 and 6arc. Assuming since there's no pins to interface in the Odin works rails.

Same here would love to replace mine also but with one you can just swap out

I ordered 2 of the Home Depot Knobs linked by @atomic41 going to give his version a go then take the other and sneak it into the machine shop at work for a second test version. Searched high and low and not seeing any other knobs I like without going to the giant lever or a toggle clamp.

@Tyler Kemp couldn't you make these pretty easy? A new knob? Seems to me it would be pretty easy but I also don't know a thing about 3d printing so....

I admittedly I run Harris Bipods with RRS adapters and have really been eyeing the TBAC bipod but I’m really digging the info on the new MDT GRND-POD. Anyone got any details from SHOT?

It’s okay to run a harris lots of matches been won on top of a harris spending hundreds more dollars will not improve your placement

Still running Harris with RRS adapters.
I did pickup an Atlas after winning a cert at the NRL22 championships.
I’ve sold several bipods and went right back to Harris people hate them because they’re too functional for the price and don’t look cool for their sniper pics on Instagram

I get it but dont want to start drilling and tapping stuff

Very easily. We can do it, just show me whatcha want aesthetically!
Boom! There ya go boys.

Something that is easier to tighten up. I guess some kind of handle ? I bet some others can give a better idea of what would work well. It would need to be strong and something we can crank down on the arca well with.

FYI, it's 10-32 thread. If you "crank down" as you are suggesting, you will snap the thread very quickly. Anything stronger than a couple of fingers turning will break it so you have to stick to a small knob. Plus, there is no need for high torque on that clamp screw, it holds just fine.

Yeah I have one and it moves with the standard knob. The knob is also a real pain to use to try and get my fingers in there. I know you can't over tighten it but a handle or better knob would be much better.
