I am putting together my new rifle and I’m having trouble with the magazine not inserting. I have a defiance ruckus going into a manners LRH stick with Hawkins m5 DBs bottom metal. When everything is put together and I go to insert the magazine it appears the magazine is hitting the bottom of the action preventing it from locking in. Has anyone experienced this and have a solution? I have calls into gunsmiths and OEM but with it being Saturday nobody is open so trying to fix it myself.

Thanks!

What kind of magazine?

It could be any number of things ranging from having a magazine cut on the bottom of your action that's not compatible, to possibly something with the stock itself. Give us a call Monday, and email us some pics of how it looks through the bottom when put together to [email protected], and our team will take a look real quick.

Will do! Thanks

If you have another mag try it. It could be a mag latch issue. I see that alot.

Does it matter if you have the bolt closed or not? Can you latch it and if so is it really hard to release

None of the mags work unless I sand them down. Doesn’t matter if the bolt is closed or not. When it’s open I can force it in but then I can’t close the bolt. If I latch it then it is hard to close

Hawkins DBM bottom metal, or any other mfg, is designed to function at a specific distance from the receiver. That distance is controlled by the length of the pillars. If the mini chassis does not position the action and the bottom metal at the correct distance apart, you will need to use some kind of spacer to adjust it.

Yea this was my worry. They said it was recommended to fit correctly it that’s not looking to be the case

Just put a washer in there, that's what I did with my stiller in a KMW stock. Seemed like the easiest solution and has been that way for a few years now.

You don't have to guess. Measure it and you will know.
If it isn't correct you will then know exactly what spacer you need.

That's a Magpul mag issue. I have a couple rifles where they will not click in but any other steel mag I put in clicks in fine. Try a metal mag. I bet it will work fine.
