I have been searching for the last couple of months to find Lapua 6.5 PRC brass to no avail. I have had a backorder on file with one of the good vendors for a month without it being filled as yet. I've not had this much trouble in the past. I wonder why such a big black cloud has overcome this particular market?

It's been a problem for a least 2 years when I purchased a 6.5 PRC. I initially picked up some 1x fired Hornady brass since I couldn't get the Lapua that I really wanted. Eventually I was able to find some Lapua brass, but I had to keep a close eye out for it and jump on it as soon as I saw or heard of some being available, as it goes out the door really fast. Gunbroker.com has regularly had it for sale, but you have to be pretty desperate to pay $400+ for a box of Lapua. There's such a big demand for this brass as well as for much other brass, Lapua is having a hard time keeping up and making available brass for those cases that have less demand. You just need to keep vigilant with you search and follow up quickly on any hint that there some available somewhere.

Backordering from euro optic has worked for me. You have to prepay but at least you're in line...

All these things come in waves for some reason. One minute it is primers, then powder now brass. I just spent over $200 for 3006 brass. 3006 for Christs sake. "Americas caliber" and no one had any brass. Got lucky and found a norma box and grabbed it. It is well you must have it you will pay if you want to play.

Sadly I don't think there will be any changes for quite some time.

Got lucky and scored some large rifle primers in those CCI white (do not sell) boxes. The world is upside down, duh. But with people in 1st world countries freezing to death nothing shocks me anymore.

Found some Nosler 308 Brass. Need to ream out the primer pocket before using. Loaded a few and they “rocked” on a flat surface. Firing pin did NOT detonate the primer. Go figure!!

Questions. Did the primers seat all the way in the newly reamed pockets? Why did they rock, because the primer stuck out past the base or because the base was deformed? If the latter, then that was probably due to whatever the previous owner did to them that deformed them.

Unless of course this was new brass, but you didn’t say. Not enough info to know if it means as anything.

yes, sorry, it WAS new brass. I assumed, because they were new, no prep was needed, so continued headlong even though they rocked on a flat surface-MY big mistake. they did seat all the way after reaming.
thanks

I had an issue with some new Norma 6.5 Carcano brass. Started to load up some and found out that the mouth was really small. Decided to dump all the powder and run them through everything I normally do with brass but cleaning them as they already got primed. All over the place is an understatement, the lengths different, some of the case mouths very small, some very large, a bullet would just fall in, to just the nose going in on others.

After that every bit of brass gets the same treatment new or not. It takes some time, but not like I am in a hurry or anything.

Thanks! Good advise for all brass, new & old. And for all re-loaders, new & Old...
