Yet another incident…. Either being reported more, or happening with more frequency, haven’t done a deep dive on the data yet.

My vote’s meth heads or plain old rednecks, but we’ve been catching more and more bad’uns slipping across our Southern border. I wouldn’t rule out sleeper cell either…pick your flavor of country of origin, China, Russia, Venezuela, or somewher in the middle east.

    Curfew? How about fuck off!
I don't need govt permission to move about.

Mount up, boys,. We need to find some ne'er-do-well denizens and arrange for them to see justice.

As in, this should not go unchallenged or unanswered. Find the suspects and prosecute them to the full extent of the law, of course.

And pray they do not resist or do something stupid. Praying is always good, yes?

Bullshit, not in in the rural areas like Moore county. Harnett county, Johnston county.....hell nowhere around Moore county except urban Fayetteville Cumberland county.
Cool story. Sweet permits to purchase a handgun, and required classes for CCW.

Moved from North Commilina to California in 2010, and it was easier to purchase a handgun in California, lol.

North Carolina is one of the most overrated states in the southeast, and I’d gladly give the state to New York.

That shows just how venerable we are. Imagine willing to die terrorists, in 20 two man teams, travelling around the country, jsut causing havoc. To say more would be as dumb as violating the ITAR, no point in giving anyone ideas.

I have always thought that if someone or a group of someone's really wanted to disrupt society it really wouldn't / doesn't take much to do it this is an example of what can be done with little effort. I hope this doesn't motivate copycat fucktards across the country.

The more Biden mentions banning guns, the more leftist, antifa types will commit crimes of this sort of bring gun bans to the forefront in the news. With the constant news of Biden family crimes, pedophilia and crack smoking cousin rape, bribes and such, they more the left will demand their followers step up their terrorism to distract from these crimes. I would not be surprised to learn it was FBI agents doing this crime to please their leftist masters.

I remember the good fortune of being privy to a conversation with a couple special operations types about their role as red team planners for the .gov. Their role was to plan an operation to take down the grid to as much as the country as possible. You know a conversations about to get really damn good when you're told to put your phone in "the bag".

Shit's gotten really wild since then, and my level of paranoia has only increased.

I remember when the power was out on the Eastern Seaboard. I remember my mother's boyfriend being one of the very few licensed/permitted to drive the rig carrying new transformer equipment from here in Winnipeg to New York. Police escort and closed roads all the way. Way-way-WAY oversize and overweight trailer/jeep/booster and whatnot.

It was no small event, nor was it a small logistical problem.

The question though, is who has more 'spares' laying around, and how many companies make them? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

“Put your phone in the bag”, eh? Coming from a guy that would know too.

I can see it on tv now . The Beverly hillbillies meet duck dynasty / Appalachian Outlaws / Moonshiner

Warren Buffet started a company that does just that. Gathers a d stores spare electrical grid components for its “members”.

If that tells you anything about the threat and profit margin.

I just thought about it. What would make people resist hard enough to overthrow this shit government.... nationwide curfews. That should do it.

    Curfews 2024!
I wouldn't count on it. Lots of people didn't even flinch when they were grounded to their home over the fake pandemic. Give some of these retards a chance to make it a virtue signal, and they will be reporting their neighbors for breaking it. I remember being at the store the night before Colorado enacted their mask mandate. An entire family came in wearing masks, gators, and ski masks. I thought what a bunch of dumb fucks. I bet they feel stupid. The next day everyone was doing it. It felt weird walking around the stores with no mask while everyone else was masked up. You could tell by the look in peoples eyes if they believed the mask protected them or were just too afraid to break the "rules."

There were members here that were bragging about having "travel papers " issued to them at the beginning of the COVID. Remember the teenage girl arrested for driving a car around her neighborhood, the guy arrested for surfing, the highway patrol stopping people going into Florida and a bunch of others? Just a reminder if who's going to enforce bullshit.

Sparky sparky is my business. The average mouth breather has no fucking clue how delicate our grid is. I can't emphasize enough how close to the stone age Tammy and the Starbucks bunch really are.
And getting more delicate. Our town was fleeced for millions building a coal plant. Our "leadership" made sure we decommissioned our old power plant before the new one was even running. The people building the new one were very vocal that it would never run. They were right. That own spent a year, many parts and several explosions trying to get it running. The company who built it declared bankruptcy after building several plants, and selling everything they had worth anything. The people of the town got stuck with the bill. It sat idle for a decade until it was sold to a scrap company last year and torn down. Now instead of our town generating electrify. We only buy it from outside sources.

We did what we wanted, when we wanted, except for out trip to Vegas that spring break which started the same day as 2 weeks to flatten the curve. No one ever messed with us or said a word. We even went to the state park almost every day, and wandered around with no passes.

In retrospect, we should have went and had Las Vegas almost all to ourselves.

Being honest though my opinion is fuck Las Vegas. Nothing there for me I can't do closer to home. Its a cool drive though. Lots of old spanish and Indian trail markers along the routes for those who know what they are looking for.

Pretty convenient given the AWB that’s in the senate right now.

I didn’t catch the caliber that was used. The last, and thus far unsolved, incident supposedly involved 7.62x39.

We long ago gave our ability to make transformers away. With the extinction of Westinghouse and demise of GE Power, our abilities to make equipment for our grid SHOULD be considered a national defense issue; but...it's not.

I read that only the CHICOMs and the Germans are the only ones that make the types of transformers needed.

I'd say that this is somewhat incorrect. The plant I'm talking about, used to be called "Federal Pioneer" but they were bought-out about a decade ago, and it's named something else right now. No, I can't remember what it is. But they're still making these items.

Huge plant, not far from my place. 1 mile, as-the-crow-flies.... if that.

I think there is one US manufacturer that has the equipment to make these. This from something I watched months back.

Add South Korea to that list also. However, to some extent there are other countries that make large transformers but at a slower production scale, usually for their own needs like Japan, Russia, etc.

The problem is there's a huge lag time between ordering a large transformer (substation 230, 345, 500KV size), and actually getting it delivered, then it can take weeks to months to get it fully operational depending on having the manpower and resources available.

Typical order to delivery timeframe is two years.

I remember reading that the U.S. population would have a 25% death rate if we had a nationwide power outage lasting 30 or more days. I can see that happening especially during a hard tough Winter.

If that gate is representative of the condition of the rest of the equipment, more than likely the thing just fell over from neglect.

That's most likely an outside parameter gate that was used when the Substation was under construction, and after the modern chain link fence, gate, etc. was installed, it most likely just remained unlocked and open until the base rotted away and it fell down.

Problem is 99% of the Substation in the USA are only protected by chain link fences. There are those that have tall block or concrete walls, mainly in areas where they are in residential area, and those solid walls serve the purpose of just blocking an ugly view.

You can only put soo much protection and security into a substation before it becomes cost prohibitive.

Unfortunately, our critical infrastructure in this country, and many others is an easy target for vandalism, thieves, terrorist, and military strikes.

Transformers shot to leak coolant/oil, oil pumps taken out also. Replacement parts coming from other countries is going to be the big issue now.

They knew what to hit, wasn’t rednecks.

More like 70%+ based on what I’ve read

as stupid as our governor of NC is, he will probably have a press conference and announce it was a situation of “ here, hold my beer, hey y’all, watch this shit”.

A simple search on google will find several incidents like this in the last year.

In fact one occurred in November just East of Cherry Point in NC.

Was a PM a few years back to the local electric company on building their latest and greatest large digital substation. These are not hardened facilities and would be quite easy to damage from outside the perimeter. Lead times for electrical switchgear and transformers is stupid. We are in the DD phase for a new commercial facility with switchgear and transformers out 9 to 12 months,

If I were to take out a transformer the oil and pumps are not the way to do it, not enough damage.
