Can anyone comment on the quality of the newer illuminated XTR3 vs the U.S. made non illuminated XTR3? I currently have the 5.5-30 US made non illuminated version and I absolutely love it. I am looking to pick up a second one for a .300 PRC and have been debating between the XTR Pro and the XTR3 Illuminated. I really like that the Pro is still US made. Had the quality dropped off with the Filipino made Illuminated model?

Mines exactly the same just has illumination all. All the same parts and pieces just assembled in a different location. I like my illum 3 just as much as my US version. Also have the pro which is incredible for the price point they are all at

The 3i is more than likely assembled in the same factory as the XTR2. That should speak volumes on the build quality. The XTR2 wasn’t winning any glass awards but it’s bulletproof.

Would you recommend the PRO over the XTR3i? I’ve read some of the reviews on here and it doesn’t seem to be that much of a jump in optical clarity for the extra cost but I’m drawn to it for the “made in the US” stamp.

I don’t have the new i version but have had 2 original xtr3’s and my friends have 2 more. I also have 3 xtr pros. To me the glass is definitely better in the pro but I don’t think it will ever make a difference between a miss and a hit or extra points. The pro is definitely nicer to look through though.

The extra cost is worth it to me for the other features like the 1/4 mil reticle, the tooless rezero, tooless turret swaps, the nicer glass is just a bonus. If you want to use the white board at matches it’s much nicer to be able to pop the turret off and mark your turret back at the tripod instead of hunkering over your rifle on the line.

So I’d recommend the pro. The parallax seems just a little better the optical clarity is better. Not a huge jump in glass but the xtr3 glass is already good. I can tell you I zoomed in on a speed goat at 800yards and it was clear as can be. The tool less zero and the speed dial are two features I’d never not want to have again they pay for them selves tenfold. I wrote all my dope and a 10&15mph wind on my dial before hunting and all I had to do was range, dial and shoot. The dials also don’t have that knarly grip it’s a bit more pleasant. I’ve never had an issue with the xtr3s or the pro but if you can swing it I think the pros features make up the cost difference for sure
