I have a custom vudoo that weighs a ton, and a custom deuce that is on the hefty side as well. I was thinking a lightweight rimx build for hunting. Wondering who’s got one, what’s your thoughts, build components and weight?

I’d say what’s your budget for this build, because you can do a proof carbon prefit in a MDT hnt26 for a light weight build. Chassis isn’t exactly inexpensive but it’s light as hell

Budget I don’t mind taking my time for, so im not worried about it. I prefer a stock vs chassis for this but didn’t think about the mdt hnt26 or the xlr mag.

Was thinking ibi carbon.

RimX, with a 20" Benchmark around a #5 contour if I remember correctly, XLR Element Magnesium with a carbon butt assemble and folder, Vortex LHT in Seekins rings, Atlas CAL, and empty magazine is just over 11 pounds. I wanted lighter but didn't want to go carbon barrel as I have heard some unfavorable things about them.

So far it's been a shooter. I built it to be especially good offhand. The last time out I was able to go 19 for 20 on a 6"-7" plate at 100 yards support side offhand unsupported.

Mine's on a Vudoo repeater, but in a Manners EH2 stock, with a 22" Krieger #4 sporter contour, and an Athlon Gen 2 Midas 4.5-27x50 sfp scope in TPS TSR rings, it weighs 9-3/4lbs, and is a very good shooter.

That’s a beautiful rifle! That’s kind of what im
Looking for. I think id prefer a stock over a chassis for this one. Was thinking carbon to shave some weight, 20” maybe and come in between 8-10lbs scoped

I really like that rifle!

I ordered this one in as a bbl'd action direct from VGW with an 18" ACE bbl in their Ranch contour, the lightest one they offered several years ago. There was nothing wrong with the ACE bbl - it shot with fine accuracy. But I didn't care for how butt-heavy the rifle was with it, and so pulled the Ranch and replaced it with the Krieger #4 sptr it now wears. I prefer longer barrels over any of the 16"-18" ones I've seen or shot with, and the blank was long enough to finish at 24". But at the time, I was still playing with suppressors quite a bit, and it came down to making a choice between 20" & 22". I left it at 22", after finding that the rifle balances at the front half of the PTG Stealth DBM at that length w/o a can mounted. I like the way it hangs in offhand, and when shooting off a bipod, the extra bit of mass of the 22" bbl keeps it from jumping around the way it did with the lighter bbl. The only changes I've made since that photo was taken was to replace the Midas Tac with the Gen 2 Midas sfp, and to shoot the bbl with CeraKote graphite black.

This came out just over 10lbs with bipod on strike eagle. Could shave 8 ounces with an lht.

Looks great! What stock is that & how does it shoot?
Mesa Altitude stock, around 28 ounces. So far SK plus or match consistently ~.300”-400 for 10 5 shot groups in a row. Impressive for a starling puncher.
