When installing a new barrel, does anyone put anything on the threads? Anti-seize or grease? I have not in the past but have a barrel coming back and will be putting it all back together hopefully tomorrow. In this case it is a Savage 10 with a barrel nut.

Yes!

I just put a little grease on the threads. Never an issue.

Yes, always.
I use the copper anti-seize stuff from Napa. It’s awesome. Just don’t let it get between the receiver face and the barrel shoulder… if it does, wipe the face and shoulder clean before you tighten it down. I see receiver faces and barrel shoulders gall, sometimes, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem.
If you screw barrels on dry the threads can gall and then you’re in hot water.

An ounce of Permatex is a lifetime supply for barrels for most guys. Hard to not justify the $5.50.

This is the copper anti seize I use.

I hate the copper anti-seize . I was installing some conduit and had to use anti-seize and got that crap every where . I looked like a drag queen , had that stuff all over my face .
