Would all tactical shooters to share a small list of their equipment they used over the course of the season. (Rifle set up, components, accessories, must haves/nots).

What helped, what didn’t not help, things that mattered or did not matter, things you would do different, looking into next season what things are you changing and the reasons for.

I’ll be loading more and shooting a lot more for practice. My equipment is not a limiting factor.

That said, I’ll likely move from 6.5CM to 6GT just to see how I like it as I’ve acquired enough components to load the 6GT.
Currently a TL3 action with Proof prefit in a MPA BA chassis and a Kahles 525. Atlas Cal bipod and TT special. Just got a couple of new rear bags from Taylor (on here) and am liking them so far.

Bipod, tater tot, geoballistics/weatherflow, coletac dry erase dope card. If you have a rifle that’s all you would need to make a match enjoyable to me.

Not gonna recommend rifle parts because most all of em work. Just make it a 6mm chambering and you’ll be fine.

Not looking for recommendation on what to build.

Looking for discussion on the last year, and what shooters are looking to change / keep same

-Binos/spotter with a reticle give me more confidence in my initial wind budget.
-LRF to verify yardages is helpful if you're not shooting on the same square range all of the time.
-18-22 lb gun with the balance point 3-4 in in front of the magwell is a benefit as well.
-Verify your scope tracks correctly
-You really don't need a ton of gear to do well, just a clear mind with a good stage plan.

My loadout has changed over the past few years to get more streamlined since my approach has changed. I used to bring everything under the sun that I could possibly need.
Now it’s if I can’t fit it all in my pack I don’t need it, since I try running everything like a field style match even if it’s not.

Pack load out is as such in a mystery ranch front pack.
Bino for spotting and target acquisition
Range Finder for obvious reasons
Kestrel (mine links with the range finder)
Thunderbird long range bag that can do double duty as a barricade or rear bag
Ammo storage for the match plus some
Fix it kit
Snacks/water
Tripod if I know it’ll be needed on a stage

Now for this year everything except the pack will be the same, I’m going to play around with the eberlestock gunslinger pack which might be a step in the wrong direction since it’s way bigger then my current pack but we’ll see.

AI atx with sawtooth bag rider , ZCO 420 mpct 3, tbac bipod , tbac dominus

Rrs 34 /anvil 30 with a piece of arca with a minox spotter with reticle and Leica 3000 binos

Backpack , kestrel , phone with Strelok pro , atlas Supercal bipod , magnet dope card thats for sale here in the for sale section , sharpie , mags , ammo , rain coat , ear protection , tool kit , gloves , chamber flag , spare batteries ,

I’m a mid pack shooter , obviously my gears not holding me back.

My recommendation is start shooting matches. You learn lots at each one from gear to process etc

Last year was the second year in a row I ran Fruit Snacks in my pack. I'm still a big fan and will 100% continue to run them for the 2023 season.

I tried 2 different types of beef stick but I only liked one. Even then it seemed to grease up my fingers and stuff would get stuck in my teeth which threw off my mental game. Still trying to decide if Beef sticks make a return for the 2023 season. Might sub them out for Clif bars.

There's a person I have squaded with many times last year that brings homemade beef jerky it made the entire squad shoot better. It will be something I will have next year.

Biggest change I made was to build consistency with my setups. Swapped my comp guns to Burris xtr pros, switching my chassis to XLR ENVY on my guns and changing my actions to ones that allow proof prefits.

Earlier this year I upgraded my binos from standard 10x Nikons to sig kilo 10k which has been very nice to verify range.

Upgraded from strelok pro to kestrel 5700 elite for data.

Upgraded my tripod from a old camera tripod that was way too short to a Leofoto 404c that is taller and more stable.

I played with a few different bags but went back to my schmedium.

And currently playing with a Tac table and bag to shoot off tripods instead of clipping in. We will see how that turns out.

Last thing is I’m shooting more paper from positions at 100 than I am long range steel.

^your last statement of practicing at 100 / positional seems to be a common thread in recent conversations.

Polishing your posture/building position

It has certainly been eye opening. I would wager to bet more than 1/2 of my missed shots at distance that I blamed on wind or other stuff are actually me not shooting well from positions, building unstable positions ect.

I built a tank trap and use ladders and saw horses as well as tripods to practice different heights and transitioning. To other positions. Has made a large improvement in my performance.

Are you a PRS member? If so, there is data available about what people are using.

Biggest improvement for me in 2022 was getting a Kestrel to help with wind and investing in Berger 105 Hybrids for more consistency than merely "ok" projectiles.

Gear: Rifle - Trued R700 action on an MDT-ACC, Hawk Hill 6mm 28" 1:7 barrel, ATS tuner, Little Bastard brake, Jewel trigger at 8 oz, Spuhr, Vortex Razor Gen 2 Atlas PSR bipod (going to upgrade to a double-pull Ckye-Pod for the additional flexibility it offers in setups), Leofoto LM364C tripod (Thinking about an RRS TVC-22i), Steiner T1042 binos (really clear), Sig Kilo 2400 BDX LRF that connects to my Kestrel 5700 Elite, AG Railchanger Pint-Sized, AG Sticky Schmedium, (2) Ammo Novels, (2) AICS mags with MDT 2 round extensions, Sunrise Tactical arm board (still getting used to it, like it so far)

What really opened my eyes this year was trying the Kraft Drill. That was an epiphany. I discovered that I'm throwing most shots about 1 moa right from all positions - standing, kneeling, seated. On recoil, the reticle is generally within 1-2 MIL of POA vertically, and mostly within +/- 0.5 MIL of center. I spent a bit of time at 100 on paper working on trying to figure out what is causing the POI shift and finding corrections for them. Saw trace on a prop on the clock for the first time this year - that was awesome.

Being a cyclist, have used all kinds of bars forever. Clif bars are kinda chewy. That may or may not be an issue. But chewy takes time. I settled on Nutrigrain bars. Work great in a cooler, do fine in heat without ever getting greasy or sticky and at the end of the day, heat one up for a few seconds in a microwave, and throw some vanilla ice cream on top.

The only issue is they are easily crushed. Still eat but not as good.
