That's a beautiful rifle, perhaps you can educate me on why people are going with the proof carbon fiber barrels? I understand the lightweight but don't they also burn out faster? Actually what I'm curious about is more of the long range application where people are taking a heavy Tikka Barrel and disposing of it with the stock only wanting the action. I'm not sure what's wrong with the barrel but my heavy barrel looks a lot like the one on my Benelli M4. That's a very nice setup you got going on for sure, what kind of pistol grip is that?

Yep, it’s 870 furniture…got it off eBay a few years ago.
The forend, I had to open it up a bit, then cut the handguard also. I removed the side rail sections to make it narrower. I was worried if I removed too much material from the wood, it would split after a while due to the recoil. So I ended up cutting the rail instead. It’s epoxied in place. I went back and forth with adding a mechanical fastener to the bottom rail section, but I’ll save that for later in case it breaks free down the road.
Yeah, I’m thinking get a really small diameter rail and then drill a couple recessed holes for MLOK mounts in the wood “wrap” fore end; maybe with a backer plate on the inside of the wood. Likely holes on the bottom only, with locating tabs on the inside of the wood on the sides. …maybe use a key mod mount instead… Gears are turning inside my cranium now.
Did you have to open up the butt stock at all for the BCG ‘tail’ that comes with that setup?

This is the handguard I used, it doesn’t list the OD, but the ID is 1.35”…so I’d guess the OD is close to 1.5”. I removed a little wood from the forend, but didn’t want to make it too thin/brittle like I mentioned. With the rail epoxied in place, it’s surprisingly solid. It flexes less there than the rest of the rail does.

That’s a beautiful piece of wood. I already had the set that I used (on an 870), which never left my safe. So I figured it would get more use on this build. It’s not quite at that level, but it’s still a nice hunk of claro walnut. I don’t remember exactly, but I think it was around $750 or $800 for the buttstock and forend, which needed finished.
As for modifications to the buttstock, the 870 already has a hole through it for the bolt that connects the buttstock to the 870 receiver.
This stock was already opened up to 5/8”, which is the same OD as the buffer tube that the fightlite uses…that may be the case with all 870 stocks, I don’t have a factory one around to check. I’m not 100%, but I believe the buffer system (tube & spring) that fightlite uses is from a Remington 1100/11-87, so those stocks should work as well.
The only real modifications I had to make were simple. The very front of the hole through the stock needed opened up to 3/4” to fit over the lug on the rear of lower. It’s about 1/2” deep…took about a minute with a sanding drum in my dremel.
The other modification was the “plug” that was in the rear of the stock, that only had a 1/4” hole through it, that needed to be opened up to 5/8” so the buffer tube could pass through it. The plug was a 2” long, 1” diameter wood dowel that was in the rear of the buttstock.
The rear part of the buttstock is drilled out to 1” diameter, the plug is was the bolt head bottomed out against to tighten the stock to the 870 receiver. Now, that’s what the nut on the end of the buffer tube bottoms out against.

Just get the rattle can out and do it east to remove if you don't like it. Working on a 80% Hydramatic G M Corp for the final detail
I've never heard of this gun until this thread. I now regret not having gotten one when I was buying my firearms, the lower that is. It looks absolutely incredible, this would be one of my most cherished firearms, you don't even know how lucky you are to have one of these, it like like nothing else out there.
I've never seen this gun before, it's my first time seeing it. I wanted to get a lever action to do this kind of build below but decided not to because I didn't like the caliber, I wanted something in 308 or 556. Now I know this gun exists

He was the first I saw presenting a tactical application lever gun. After Chris Pratt and his Jurassic World Marlin, I see why this trend is not going anywhere.
Absolutely incredible. Super underrated, the Henry Golden Boy Lever Action got me into lever actions, but I always wanted something with a tactical flare with rails to mount optics and lights on. I wish I had gotten the Thumper V2, I could live with the fact that it isn't 556 ammo.
Would have been interesting to see him shoot those red tipped rounds that he was showcasing on the V2.
Isn't there a possibility of those rounds going off in the tube due to the point on the bullets lining up with the primer on the bullet in front of it?
If that is the case then showcasing those rounds on the gun is bad form on his part.
I didn't watch the video, but I'm guessing the red tipped rounds in question are the Hornady bullets designed for lever guns. The tips are very pliable to avoid poking the next primer in the stack.

I know nothing about lever guns or the 45-70 so I will have to defer. You have a pretty good point though if indeed the poly-tip rounds could set off a primer. I re-watched the video and I didn't see him chamber any of the red tipped poly rounds at all.
I am curious to read a knowledgeable answer. You would think they would be G2G but your question is very plausible!
ETA... I am less worried about COSTA not presenting because he could of shot them and edited it out because it was shitty footage but the implications of trying to shoot them and this possibly happening does not sound like a good day. @TonyTheTiger also brings up a good point. The manufacturer built with avoiding that in mind.

Somehow missed the memo that they were doing an FFP line.
They only have the one 1-10 ffp, none of their other models come ffp. For $600 it is hard to beat.
