Gunsmithing Remington 700 DBM opinions from guys that put them in.....and use them.

The men at the range will be asking for you digits.

If it was pink Krylon you’d be rolling in poontang.

I may still carve some cock images on it.

I got my Brownells 5F yesterday........no bueno. It's a solution with naphtha and some other shit as a carrier. Figuring it will strip my tung oil while polishing the existing finish away.

If I can get some dry 5F I want to give it another try at fucking myself over.

It already looks twice as good as I expected so there is a lot of room to fail and still be happy.

I’d look to a woodworking website for rotten stone.

Just bought some jewelers rouge off a jewelry site.

Thinking the red tinge in the oil will be a plus.

Going to let this coat dry a week and if my rouge is here next week it will be my last fuck around and find out.

Bruh, you should just wire wheel it.

On a serious note, I don’t think you can fuck it up with the rotten stone or the rouge. You did a damn good job on it.

Got my rouge today. Saturday or Sunday I’ll take another go at screwing it up.

Shit is so fine it's magnetic, water won't wash it away...

I made the mistake of using some brass case media that is infused with rouge at 100%. Stuff gets into the rim of the primer ring and you would see rouge collecting on the face of the bolt. Stuff is like as fine as can be.

I think I'll be rubbing rouge off the stock for months to come.

Fuck it! Going to go for it.

Went with a small rail up front for economy of space. I’m getting a Caldwell Grip Pod so I can use one tool for foregrip and bipod.

Excited to see how well the BDC reticle matches up with my Yugoslav M80.

My aesthetic desires say that rail should be "skooch" more aft.

LRI pillars create very little receiver contact….

Except for those two little contacts metal to metal everything else is the warm hug of bedding.

The moment of conception. I felt the spark of life….

60 inch pounds rear, 65 inch pounds front - front achieved last. This has been the recipe on my other M40 style rifles.

Damn you ADM….what a time to shit the bed!

Note to self contact ADM for spare springs and nuts. Also contact Badger for extra scope cap screws.

For now….looks like my Tactical Brass Recovery bag will be sacrificed.

Damn you ADM!

How dare you not follow the laws of mass production and use the same size springs across your line!

In desperation checked the Atlas bag a third time turning the seams inside out…

Success!

Still going to order spares - now in different sizes!

It’s not been a good morning.

Dropped my scope of choice and broke it.

Ran down to K-Mart and bought what was available.

It’s not mil-spec and all that implies but it will do….

Bit big of a scope….I know there is a fine gent out there hoping I will trade this bat for his more suitable 3-12 DT but my sense of fashion is digging the RAL8000.

So glad there was a K-Mart near by.

Haven’t loaded the flush mag but I’m guessing 3 rounds. With a sanitized USMC AI and a 10 round AI…..

Engraving on flush mag. Going to fill it in silver for visibility. Gold is too hood….

Bolt stop isn't working.

Hoping I can diagnose it without pulling it from the stock.

Pretty sure I had to depress it to remove the bolt initially. Appears it has not sprung back to its default position.

That happened to me but it was because I was a bit ham fisted when running the bolt.

I was able to push the rear part down with a pick. But it was a temporary fix and kept on sticking.

Unfortunately if it is the bolt stop sticking, you have to pull the action.

And you might as well make sure the bolt stop moves smoothly at that point. I had to pull mine and polish it and make sure there were no burrs on the edges as the end got “peened” from the impacts

It’s really not an issue as I usually slow fire from the bench but it still needs to work right.

Didn’t even give it a second thought as it is one of those things I just expect to work.

Trigger is from 1965 or so and has three more years of experience than me and my shit gets stuck on occasion so it happens.

I’ll mess with it tomorrow. If I can “pick” it free that will do for now.

Shoots as good as it looks. Congrats Phil, on another successful project.
