Here is mine. 21 Can Am Spyder. Yes, I actually bought a motorcycle with training wheels, lol. Pic was taken near Malibu, CA a short drive from the house.

Still wrenching on it, almost there, this is the stock variant in the middle. 20 yrs old has 19,500 on the odometer with 6,500 miles before it’s first valve adjustment, lol. The bike is beyond comfortable and it flat out rips. What folks don’t know about theses bikes it’s considered a sport tourer not a sport bike on insurance, really cheap. And throw enough money at it they can be highly modified and fast. This one sports a full Muzzy system, ported boots, Ivan’s carb MB kit and air box mod, with a 520 kit. Probably 140 to the ground.

Still wrenching on it, almost there, this is the stock variant on the right.

I love the Gen1 Fazers! I had one up until recently, had to sell it to help fund a move across the country. Mine was the 2003 limited Kenny Robert’s “Bumble Bee” edition. I miss her, she was an absolute blast to ride!

Nice, they definitely get in your blood. They are getting harder to find nowadays. I paid $ 4000.00 in 2012 high blue book. Had 4,400 on the clock with the original Batlax tires on it.
 
Probably one of the dumbest times to buy a bike but I'll be bringing my first ducati home in 2 weeks. Was almost going to let it go when the wife convinced me to get it... wife is always right so here we are!

2012 1199 panigale base model. For the price all the used jap bikes are going for I figured a ducati would hold its value beyond this high price time were in.

Sold a mint skunk 2004 FZ1 back in 05 to get the new 2006 gen 2 fz1. This is a pic of that bike I built, should have kept the skunk. Gen 2’s will come and go but my gen 1 will stay with me to the end.

Yep! The Gen1 has a serious following, and for good reason! They’re solid bikes, fairly easy to work on (had to order special feeler gauges to do the valve adjustment thanks to the five valve head, though), and a blast to ride!

No mine did not crack thankfully, but I was always worried about it happening. Between that and the throttle snatch that Yamaha never owned up to was total bs on there part. Yea being that the gen 1 was cycle world magazines best bike of the year for three years in a row should speak volumes. Gen 2 has fuel injection and a more rigid frame, but the tank is ugly if you ask me. Gen 1 super comfy and fast if done right. Sport bike performance that you can ride across america 130 1 handed, no bs. My gen 2 may have been slightly faster than the gen 1 but only by a nose. Gen 1 with top shelf suspension, brakes and usd forks is a completely different animal.

I got rid of my Road Glide two weeks back. Picked up a Low Rider ST.

The RG had exhaust, intake, cam, and was dyno tuned, and this factory 117 would walk all over it.

Installed exhaust and a tune from Fuel Moto yesterday to get rid of the sewing machine sound. Much better.

Here’s one of a handful of runs at Texas Mile with my 2005 FZ1. Did all the tuning myself, last run was 151.96 in high humidity, hot and headwinds. Purely streetable and still in the garage. Have a 2004 Tuono that keeps it in good company.

Guy that ran in front of me ran 232 in mile. Said the half mile asphalt and quarter mile of pasture runout came up pretty fast! Top speed on a bike stood at 278 for quite a while.

Now do the Big bear chopper treatment to it and that thing will be sick as fuck, Olins suspension and big dank Brembos, do the motor later.

No my friend, Big Bear choppers is a bike builder in So Cal and he used to build some sick choppers back when it was a popular. Now he builds some of the badest hot rod Harley’s out there today. He actually has a bike in the king of the baggers racing series. I get it it’s a little deceiving from the name but the company is the real deal. He actually builds a complete titanium frame FXR from the ground up with top shelf Olin’s suspension, no man I don’t no shit about motorcycles. Look up Big bear choppers and look at some of his builds on YouTube, no chopper stuff nothing but big boy shit. I was not knocking your bike, the low rider st is a sweet bike. But let’s be honest Harley has never put decent suspension or brakes on there bikes and they are heavy. And actually I do ride and was just give you a little info how to make that st the real deal it can be. They gave you a cool bike that has more travel and higher off the ground for more lean angle with no brakes or suspension as what Harley always does, it is what it is. You can convert your front forks to olins with Big bears cartridge kit and convert your front brakes to radial brembos with there bracket conversion kit and have Olin’s shocks in the rear and get a proper set up and have a real deal HD but that might be for people who actually ride, just saying.

232 was a Busa at Texas Mile. 278 a Busa ridden by Bill Warner, but believe he passed away at Loring AFB attempting to beat his 311 on a very aerodynamic 1000hp setup.
The sound of a car or bike on a clean run at 200++ is very impressive and certainly distinctive. You know it’s happening when you hear it.

Yesterday, my gf and I went on a day trip on the Road King. We hooked up with a local riding group and 18 of us did a roughly 600 mile round trip from Lexington, SC to the Maggie Valley area of NC. 110 miles of this was on the Copperhead Loop./images/smilies/icon_smile_cool.gif

The world-famous 'Tail of the Dragon' is 318 curves in 11 miles. The Dragon can be a fun ride, but with all the idiots trying to run it beyond their skill level (bikes and cars) it can also be more dangerous than you'd believe. Toss in all the weekend tourists with their trailers and motorhomes crawling along, the Dragon can be more frustrating than fun. Basically, unless you hit it off-season (and on a Wednesday) it's a lot of hype......it's still cool to be able to say you've done it, but it isn't what it's cracked up to be due to the traffic and idiots. It's a relatively short run with a lot of twists.

The Copperhead Loop from Maggie Valley, on the other hand, is 110 miles with 956 curves that range from gentle sweeps to tight switchbacks and hairpins, up and down mountains--elevation changes several thousand feet as you run this route.

The Copperhead still has a lot of traffic, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Dragon, and we were able to run it hard enough that bikes overheated and lots of us have fresh scrapes on pegs/floorboards.

Our lead rider's wife managed to get a shot of us on one of the gentler curves while we were stuck behind a car on the 276 leg---I'm glad we got held up a bit because I needed a breather after 20+ miles of switchbacks.

I really need to invest in a go-pro. This ride had some of the most amazing scenery and technical riding I've ever seen. Well, I saw the technical riding part......I didn't get much of an opportunity to view anything but the road because it required all of my concentration. My gf got to see the scenery, but she was too busy holding on for dear life for her to feel comfortable enough to take pics or video.

If you haven't had a chance to ride the Blue Ridge mountains, put it on the list!


ETA: This loop is not for a beginner and we got a stark reminder of that right at the start. We ended up taking the loop from the opposite direction from our original plan because a rider from another group had gone down around the halfway point of the 215 leg and the road was blocked. We heard from other riders that he had been airlifted out in serious condition and they were still trying to recover the bike that was wedged in a guard rail.
 
We had our annual Polar Bear Run yesterday--what a great way to start the new year! It wasn't much of a 'polar' ride as the high temp yesterday was 72 degrees.
The ride was sponsored by one of our local HD dealerships--they only expected about 15 to show up......our group was 28 and 3 other groups arrived right after we did. 81 bikes and roughly 100 people. Our tailgunner took this pic and I'm somewhere in the front third of the pack.

This is one of the reasons to live in the South--All y'all Yankees dealing with ice, snow and sub-zero temps for 4 months out of the year are missing out on some of the best riding weather!

We had our annual Polar Bear Run yesterday--what a great way to start the new year! It wasn't much of a 'polar' ride as the high temp yesterday was 72 degrees.
The ride was sponsored by one of our local HD dealerships--they only expected about 15 to show up......our group was 28 and 3 other groups arrived right after we did. 81 bikes and roughly 100 people. Our tailgunner took this pic and I'm somewhere in the front third of the pack.

This is one of the reasons to live in the South--All y'all Yankees dealing with ice, snow and sub-zero temps for 4 months out of the year are missing out on some of the best riding weather!

Even in the summer, our bugs aren’t nearly that bad.

You can keep your warm weather and two hour bike washes lol

My second motorcycle. Bought it new when I was thirteen. Dad took me to the bank and took out a loan, had ½ the money, and made me the cosigner. Had me create a checking account and I paid the loan monthly.

Those were the days, ‘’The spirit of 76‘’ Honda XR 75’s were king in till the YZ’S came out. The RM 80’s came a few years after the YZ. The RM was a better looking bike in my opinion.
