My swamp poodle doing work this fall. She's 9. Going to be hell when I have to start thinking about another for the freezing mornings in the swamp water. She'll get to dove hunt until I have to carry her though.

@Yasherka ..
You mentioned your struggle battling some PTSD demons..
Have you thought about a service/therapy dog?

Not gonna pretend to know what you're going through. Always wanted to be a Ranger but unfortunately I was a super risk-loving tard in my younger years, in and outta jail cells all the time as a younger man so they wouldnt let me in after seeing my record(but they'll let tranny freaks/degenerates in the service and people who HATE our country  however thats another discussion).
Ive seen service dogs work wonders for guys(ex-convicts) battling their own demons.. and seem to be a miracle cure for many of our veterans...
I applied for a service dog some years ago but they decided I wasn't fucked up enough to need one. We do have a dog from the local pound though, a very loving three legged shepherd-basenji mix. Best dog I've ever had.

@W54/XM-388 he is only 5 months old and my bully is 2 years old and 60lbs for comparison. This is roughly what he will look like when he's full grown. They can get pretty big since it's a mastiff breed. They are supposed to be guard dogs with a good temperament and hes great with kids. Hes really a gental giant for now. Im just hoping if someone sees his big ass they wont even cosider messing with the property. 🤣 my buddy did the breeding so he was $1800 if you were curious on cost also. But he had puppies all the way down to free status for pet homes. I got the most colorful 1 of the bunch he and is papered so I paid for him. I also included a picture from the day i brought him home. Hope everyone had a great holiday! If you have any more questions just let me know. Also that 1st picture was around 4 months ill post a updated pic later.

@W54/XM-388 this is the 2 of them together today for a size comparison. They are about equals currently but batman has a slight size advantage while lucy might have a slight weight advantage. His paws are roughly 2 times the size of hers though. It looks like she's following a bear with the size difference in paw prints in the snow

Big paws on a puppy are so cute, it makes them look like they are a Jeep or something, ready to go off road 4x4 exploring.

Found out the lump on Kimber’s rear was cancer. Took her hunting last Sunday afternoon in case her Tuesday Dr appointment showed it was in her lungs. Lungs were clear, so they removed the tumor. She is getting pampered, all the kids and grandkids were home for Christmas. Lots of food got “dropped” for her!! She loves the cold weather we are having despite her butt being shaved bare.

We had 7 dogs at my ex's for Christmas. Her two, her brother's two, plus two belonging to one of his GFs who's in JAX for Christmas, and mine. Of course one of the guests had to keep yelling at a couple of the dogs just trying to play. Non-dog people have no clue. I bit my tongue, but eventually my ex's brother had to tell him to quit - they were just playing.

Aussie Catahoula Cross. I have one. Your dog looks like some of her siblings. My dog looks like a Border Collie but when she barks she sounds like a hound! Her tail is 2 feet long!

Warrior Dog Foundation is a charity that I've given to in the past. Will be setting up a ongoing donation after the 1st...

I am very careful with my money. I give a good bit to different "charity" type places. This is one. A couple local animal shelters, best friends in a state a long way from MO. But I don't give any money to people, or "god".

Quite a few folks don't get it and never will, I gave up long ago trying to explain.

This is one group I have given to for a while now, they do good work. And the other option is a non starter for me.

This is Remington, he is far too fat, has bad joints with arthritis in is front wrists. The wrist on a dog is the first real joint going up from the front legs, in the pic you can see a little swollen on him. He and I are the same, both broken down old men with more issues then we should have at our age, we are also pretty angry at the world, but we love our world with everything. I know the days behind out number the days in front, and I start to come unglued when thinking about it. Oddly enough he is on a few "human" meds as the dog meds have dies in them that he is allegeric to.....why the ever loving fuck do you need to die a pill for a dog, how far past fucking stupid, and out of pocket for the "human" med is cheaper then the dog med. He is also on the same "pain pills" as I was on for a while before I upgraded. He does not get them often but you know when he needs it, this morning was one of those mornings, would not even get off the couch for food, and he LOVES food.

I have always had Border Collies, he is a mini.....or is should be a mini if he was not so fat. They are so smart, and so in tune to your feelings and such, they know when you really need dog.

Are we going racing again dad, that was such fun. When we raced my motorhome had one of those sleeping areas over the cab, I had a Bichon Frise that I found wondering in the middle of a corn field, a dog like that has no business in a corn field, I thought he was a skunk at first and almost shot him but something was not quite right. I went up to him and Grrrr. Down on my knees and I got him to come to me. He would lay in the over cab and watch the race cars all day, he loved it, When Remmie joined us they both loved racing.

Remmie and Willow on the couch, the wife bought willow for $25 out of a horse trailer at walmart. If that is not redneck I don't know what is. She has a heart of gold, but is just so darn stupid.....and gets so excited, we tried to take her places when she was little to "socialize" her, but she would be hollering and yiping the entire time. She is 1.5 yrs old and is going to have a new visitor in a few days, professional dog trainer to the house, I am at the end of my rope. She knows sit, but that is all, zero recall, not down, and she is far too big to be hopping.
Remington looks like WHY did mom let this monster on my couch?

How is he doing? Our lab just had the 1st of 2 CCL surgeries a couple weeks ago.

Thank God he’s doing great. 12/29 was his eight week with X-ray and the doctor said he looked perfect and released him to full activity as long as he’s on the leash. Also got to move from the 4’ leash to a retractable. He was still holding his leg up but only when he stood still and the doc said that’s normal. For the last ten days or so that’s gone and now you really can’t tell he’s had the surgery at all. Going to keep him on the retractable till probably end of February and then it’s freedom for the big guy. My wife did a light jog with leash obviously on the property early this week and she said he was so happy. I do notice on those under 20 degree mornings he will twitch his leg a little when we first go outside so maybe the deep cold messes with the plate and screws I know it does on me lol. I took him to wake forest about 3.5 hours away to one of the best surgeons in the country instead of the local options and the doc is expecting him to be back to full hunt mode so that’s awesome. Not easy walking a gsp on a leash for the last three months that’s for sure and he’s up at 5am everyday don’t matter how cold it is outside 🥶

Good to hear! My biggest issue right now is keeping her still so she rests. Our surgeon was from somewhere in Raleigh but done at our local animal hospital over here. We thought about going through NC State but will see how this one goes. Tues she is able to walk 5 minutes at a time. Until now she gets to join the rest of us curtesy of her new wheels 😂:

Our golden retriever would have loved those wheels. He was a rescue, and his hips were weak from the day we adopted him. We gave him the best 9 years we could. We lost him almost 2 years ago. Miss him every day.

Talked to our neighbor tonight. He had to put down his almost 14 year old GSP last week. Luckily for him, he has a 3 year old GSP to keep him busy. He and his wife are about 80, so it’s g to see them active with the younger pup.
