It's shitty that a commercial supporter of the site posts a rare in-stock action for almost half off current MSRP and sells it to the first person who meets his terms...after directly notifying an interested party of the terms? That sounds more like a generous gift to one lucky (and proactive) forum member from a guy who has already donated tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours to the shooting community.

That’s true if the person was messaged privately and didn’t meet the terms. If it happened how it looks in this thread-1)posting a wts ad
2)person responds
3)buying info posted publicly instead of privately (presumably)
4)someone buys out from under the first “I’ll take it”
then yes, that is crappy business no matter who you are or how much you donate.

Maybe there should not be bad mouthing of a supporting vendor based upon presumption in the absence of the whole story? The dib is an expression of interest, not a contract or completed transaction. Money talks. The terms were clearly spelled out in post 4 while the action was still available. It appears that someone else met them.

Read the site rules and guidelines. Neither party is obligated to complete transaction. Don't crap in for sale threads.

Just for clarification-

He posted above (at 8:10) for me to call the shop.
No p.m.

I called the shop at 11:09. He told me he sold it. I can post a pic of my call log?

I would think 3 hours is well with in reason.

I think 24 hours is reasonable.

After that...

sounds like we found the guy who stole mcc308s action hahaha.

He said "we have multiple people asking for this.". So the question is, how was priority determined? If mcc308 was the very first person to state they were interested and planned to buy it, it's only reasonable to give the man some time to make the purchase. 3 hours later and it's gone seems ridiculous to me. If there was a PM sent to the seller before mcc308 posted in this thread that he wanted it, I understand. Outside of that, don't get someone's hopes up just to sell something out from underneath them. Am I wrong in saying that the buy/sell portion of this message board operates as the first person to post they will buy an item gets the chance to actually buy the item unless they prove they can not?

If he was going to sell the action to the first person who who called the shop, then he should have put that in the original post with his contact info. But he didn’t. Within hours of posting, someone claims via the post. Around here that’s how it’s done. Then all of a sudden he’s still accepting all offers but you have to call.

It’s just sloppy and clearly doesn’t go over well with doing business.

No one is saying it’s against the rules, just in bad taste. There’s written site rules and then unwritten px etiquette. He was fine by one and not the other. The item is sold so it really isn’t crapping on the thread as it will have no impact on this sale, but you’re high if you don’t think people will remember this next time he posts something here. Could have been easily avoided by stating his terms off the bat, or a simple “this is posted for sale elsewhere and first to call or show up to my shop gets it.” The op likely could care less but as a business owner he’s getting some free feedback 🤷‍♂️ Technically he could have accepted a better offer, which still would be within rules, but in bad taste regardless.
