Going on a 8-1/2” 300bo shooting pigs. I currently have a lasermax on it now and want something a little better. I use pvs14 for viewing and the thing I don’t like is the blooming from the lasermax. I actually mounted a piece of sunglass lens to the front of it and that helped a lot. Was thinking of the tor mini or the Luna elir 3. Happy to buy used and want to stay south of $500. What are your thoughts.

It says high low brightness setting, do you know how bright the low setting is or compared to the .2mw from the tor. Thats my biggest complaint too much power for close shots 50yds and in. I’ve never seen the tor so I’m assuming the lowest power would be about right. And it’s on sale for $230 from tnvc. I do like the looks of the holo, how rugged is it.

If having a short range IR illuminator that always comes on with activation of the IR laser is not a deal breaker, try a Streamlight TLR VIR II. I started with one purchased for my NV pistol and now have eight of them, two of which are on carbines. They are superb for short guns like my 10.5" 300 Blk. Mine have all held zero great, including one instance where a pistol fell ~4 ft onto my steel safe (impacting on the TLR) and then skidded across concrete. I really like the Streamlight switchology and the ability to leave it in the off position for transport in a case. The bonus 300 lumen white light is nothing to write home about, but is still decent and more powerful than my first X300 was all those years ago. YMMV, good luck!

Based on your budget I would suggest a Holosun. I have one and they a re not too bad for the price. The illuminator are crap. Get the plain IR laser without the Illuminator and then get a Surefire Scout Vampire. Those two should be right at you price point.

Does it have visible and IR? I have a few different ones but my Steiner OTAL does not and it makes it a pain zeroing but once done no big deal but if you move it around don’t get one without both. It look like it has gone up in price since I purchased mine (5 years) so not sure I would recommend it now.

It does not. They do have an IR and Visible laser option. It is a slaved laser so it is much easier to zero. It does cost more. Here it is:

Holosun LS221R&IR Coaxial Red and IR Laser Sight
