Noisy buffer spring

I have a JP Rifles “Silent Capture Spring”…quiets things down quite a bit in my LR-308.

I use SCS also. The spring pack is nice for tuning.

You can coat the spring with bearing grease.

That's always worked for me with Sprinco springs.

Grease or oil the spring

Squirt of CLP in the tube. No more BOING!

Louder muzzle device.

(I grease them, can't stand "sproink, sproink" or "thwakathwaka, thwakathwaka")

As mentioned, grease helps quite a bit.

If that isn't up to your desired results, a smoother interior buffer tube and a JP polished recoil spring should help even more.

Go buy a David Tubbs Flat wire spring

I just had a similar issue but in an AR-15 .300 blackout. I replaced the spring and buffer with an Armaspec Stealth buffer, still noisy. I then grabbed my JP captured spring from an existing AR, still noisy. I started rubbing the inside of my buffer and it was noisy. I then rubbed the insides of a few different ARs, quiet. Basically my issue was the inside of my buffer tube was noisy. It didn't feel rough at all either. I contacted the mfr and they exchanged it for me. So now my subsonic rounds with the Armaspec are very quiet! I would of never thought the insides of a buffer tube would be noisy ever.

That stuff attracts carbon faster than a banana attracting fruit flies. I shoot suppressed so it gets dirty really fast even in the tube.

Flat wire Tubbs or Geisselle braided wire with H3 buffer, my Armalite AR10's have zero sproing not sure why your PSA is so loud??

In any case, a chrome silicon spring needs to be oil coated for corrosion control. Springco springs are great but they will fail if they are allowed to corrode.

The Tubbs springs are 7-17 stainless which is nice. And you can remove a coil to tune if necessary.

In context, if you lived on the coast, I would think seriously about a Tubbs. If you live somewhere with normal humidity and can do periodic maintenance, chrome silicone is great.

Recently swapped a rifle length spring with a JP polished spring in a AR10. Haven't shot it yet but the spring noise is gone when action gets cycled.

Never saw this as a problem

Smoke Composites carbon buffer tube, lubed spring. Never noticed uncivilized noises with that combo.
