Are the FN SPR enthusiasts extinct?

I agree. Plus knowing the way rings work (along with the fact that you're using rings that are typically pretty solid) makes me think rail. I would guess that most ring designs allow for some variation in rail dimensions as you tighten that 'clamp'.

Does anyone still make a rail for the spr? Badger ordinance and NEAR discontinued making them as far as I can tell.

The 306-06SPR is still an active item at Badger Ordnance.

They just haven’t had any available for some time.

I know they are dealing with high demand and production challenges just like other manufacturers in the firearms industry.

Best regards

10-4. I’ll call badger later today. Last time I checked their website it said out of stock and discontinued. Thanks.

Might get lucky, looks like they are in stock.

update for you guys. I contacted badger ordinance and they had rails that they were about to put back on the website for sale so I ordered one. Part #306-06SPR. Got it in the mail today and it works perfectly. I think it is safe to say the both the factory rail and the ops2 I bought to replace the factory rail are bad. May give ops2 a call and see if they will do about it.

Something else I thought I would pass on is the guys at badger said the spr rail has been permanently discontinued. After the batch that they have in stock now sells out they will NOT be making anymore. So if you want/need one might be a good idea to get one while you can. Thanks guys. I really appreciate all the help.

Does anyone have diagram showing the FN-H SPR / Win short action mod for CDI bottom w/ AICS magazines??
My A3-G was converted to CDI bottom metal before I bought it.

I found another CDI short action bottom metal and want to have another action set up. I thought I had a diagram but of course I can't find it now.

Thanks !

Tim

Is this bottom metal something that you would want to share temporarily for us to find another person to replicate them?

Guys, I’ve found a donor that’s willing to send out his CDI bottom metal for reproduction.

Anyone have a machine shop that can make duplicates?

Or some decent measuring equipment to at least draw up the bottom metal?

I thought it did and they didnt cut out the action, but modified the magazine. I think

Round count? Was it threaded at the factory, or was it threaded aftermarket?

I’ve put about 200 through. I am the second owner. Threaded at factory as far as I know. Its all factory except the stock work and threaded bolt handle by SAC.

I don't think the A1A was threaded at the factory. I would  Ass uMe it was done by the smith when SAC had it.
You’re probably right, FN’s description states a recessed crown, not a thread. If anything, SAC probably did it better then.

I'm wanting to add an ARCA rail to my SPR A3G. What rail should I go with to have it fit as close to the bottom metal as I can. I'm using the factory hinged floor plate

I’ve been wanting an FN SPR for a very long time. But mine is a very typical stor.y. When I had the funds available there wasn’t an SPR and when there was an SPR available cash wasn’t. Two weeks ago I was visiting a son who lives in Eastern WA. While he was busy I visited a few LGS. I found and bought my first FN SPR #FG105XX. It came with a Springfield Armory 2nd Gen 4X14.. I put a different scope on it and went to the range with about 7 different hand loads. The range only has 100yds but I’m extremely happy with the rifle at this point. This was 168SMK RL-15 43.0 Win.case and Fed.210.

By chance does anyone know where I can find 10 round tbm mags? I’ve seen 5 round mags around but 10 round mag have been none existent.

Grab the 5rnd mags now while you can, too. The 10rnd mags are gone, you’ll have to find someone willing to part with some used ones.

I should grab a few more 5 rounders myself, actually.

Support for this rifle family is limited. It’s really a shame.

Did there happen to ever be any follow-up re: your initiative here?
I'm pretty eagerly searching for some CDI Bottom Metal for my A3G

I don't mean to put words in his mouth, but I think Sam is trying to limit involvement in extremely niche firearms markets these days. Demand for this was pretty low even when FN was making SPR's, but now it has to be almost nonexistent... Unfortunately.

I don't know how similar these 2 rifles would be, but Chad has previously expressed at least some interest in something similar, so he might be your guy.

Stupid question of the day: I might be looking in the wrong place, but what are you guys using for replacement firing pin springs? MGW is selling what looks like *to me* a direct replacement (5.39") Model 70 spring... but if one of you knows the part number or source for a replacement I'd be grateful.

As a heads up for anyone interested, due to a change in my life circumstances I’m selling my SPR A1:
Thanks and glad to see these still have an active following here.

Midway has the TBM kit with 5 and 10 round mags right now. I thought they were sold out years ago.

Not cheap, but in cases like mine where the old DBM was starting to fail, it may be worth it.

Wow, that’s the highest I’ve ever seen the kit listed! Glad I stocked up on 10rnd mags when I could, though a few more 5rnd wouldn’t hurt.

What was failing?

Just the spring in the mag...nothing serious. Last round started coming out with the nose up, similar to guys trying to run a 6BR in a mag without a block. CRF regardless...I was jamming the nose into the 12 o'clock on the chamber and the round wouldn't feed.

Thinking it was because I was running a 6.5x47 with a ln OAL of ~2.700, I swapped the mag into my old SPR still running .308 at around ~2.810" (and 1.850 vs. 2.005 case length)...and it happened again on the first mag.

Cleaned the crap out of it, and it did it again.

No issues otherwise...just the last round on the old mag.
