Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56

Here's why I'm asking for the erector dimension.

MPA has two bolt action mounts
1.060 high has 0.145″ of clearance for the erector- MPA says this one will not work with a Razor
1.125 high has 0.210″ of clearance- MPA says this one WILL work with a razor

Very small difference, but I'd prefer the lower if I can make it work- both because I prefer the lower height, and because it's in stock. I don't know how the Gen 2 and Gen 3 erector heights compare, whether it may work with the 3. Also, if it's a minor amount of interference, I'm not afraid to mill it to fit but I don't want to take off enough to make a structural difference. I'd like to have one in hand when the scope gets here.

I'm measuring .174" protrusion below the 34mm tube.

Additionally, the erector tapers from 1.638" in diameter at the lowest point to 1.946" where it intersects the 34mm tube.

Thank you very much, that’s exact what I needed. Looks like it’s a pretty hard ‘no’ on the lower mount.

It's a hard 'NO' without machining. If you are willing to mill ~.030" off the mount, it would work.

M10 QD-L Scope Mount 34mm

35mm height 1.38 has anyone used that mount with the new razor gen 3?

Just if there was enough clearance. But if the 32mm is working good then mine should with the razor gen 3

This is a 1.26 M-BRACE with a G3

Got my gen 3 razor today. Got it mounted up and played with it a bit and tomorrow I plan on shooting and getting it zeroed. My turrets are good nice and tactile and the locking elevation turret is stiff to pull up and push down. I had the turret fall down a few times dialing down but ended up being my fault I didn't pull it up enough for it to lock better. So far the scope is great and no issues like everyone else was talking about. I compared it to a xrs3 a bit the Gen 3 wins but the xrs3 is no slouch and a great scope at the price

My Gen III is back at Vortex getting it's knobs fixed but I will be getting an XRS3 soon so when both are in I am looking forward to comparing them as well.

Same here mine is actually on the way back from them right now with the turret update.

To the guys who have sent in for turret upgrades, how long has been the r&m time before you received them back?

I just sent mine in on 12/29 they got it 1/3 and it is being delivered back to me today 1/10. So pretty quick right now.

Not what I was told. I was told 1-3 weeks right now. I sent mine in 12/28 and received 12/31 and got email yesterday they got it and it's being worked on and 1-3 weeks not including shipping time.

I was told one to three weeks to when I called and got the label. But apparently that is the default times.

Well we will see. They received mine before yours and yours is on it's way back and mine isn't so seems like there isn't a set time frame connected to delivery and return.

I've sent 2 in, my buddy sent 2 in. I think that's just a boiler plate est. My 1st one was 10 days from the time I dropped it off before I had it back. My 2nd was 14 days.

Might be but it's what they say so you can't disregard it on it's face. If you do then maybe they should change it. And I am on day 13 right now and they just got a notice they got it yesterday so might not be boiler plate.

Is this turret update to make the turrets more crisp, less mushy, or is it one where I may have misunderstood someone here saying they can make them non-locking on the elevation? My understanding is the turret crispness was fixed as an issue from like Fall 2022 on?

To get them crisper and have the knobs lock in place when pulled up and not slide down. Get it more like Gen II.

Might have been fixed later fall but the one I got in mid September had the same issues. I think the ones shipping from Vortex now have been fixed though.

Ah, thanks. So then there is no NLE update one can option for on this model, got it.

I traded my XRS3 plus cash for a Gen 3 Razor which is now the nicest optic I have owned to date. It has none of the serious issues described in this thread. The turrets are awesome, parallax ring is a little stiff but not bad and the magnification ring is smooth as can be. I did have to spend a little extra time setting the diopter after my initial range session where I had to run the parallax between 100 and 150 yard marks while setting my zero. I adjusted the diopter when I got home and verified again at 100 yards. The parallax still does not line up perfect and is just barley off of the 100 yard mark. I do shoot with prescription glasses to correct an astigmatism and am sure that has something to do with it. I will probably mess with the diopter a little more down the road. I have noticed that the Razor is a little harder to get behind that the XRS3 it replaced.
I can say the Razor cuts through the mirage better than any optic I have used. I compared it side by side to a MK5 and an XRS2 this past weekend. I ran them out to 1000 yards and the Razor was definitely the best of the three. I can't wait to get a break in the Wyoming winter weather so I can see how it does out to 2k.

Shot the Gen 3 today and stupid simple to zero I really love the way they did that it is much faster. Everything is smooth and the scope functions great. Only negative thing or complaint I have is the xrs3 was way more forgiving to get behind and the Gen 3 is more finky about that but once I get use to that no issues. I do need to fine tune it my eyes better. The glass is the best I've ever had.

Got an email today mine is shipping back. Should be here Saturday.

The more I play with the scope I have noticed that when dialing back down to zero the elevation turret will fall to locking position when I run it fast back down. Nothing major with the spacers available

I thought that was fixed when you sent it back?

I never sent mine in I just got mine from a order a few months back. Only had it a week nor so. But only becomes an issue when I dial like 20 mils then back back down. Most of my shooting is long range no prs style

Sorry got it confused. Well if it does become an issue just send it in and they can fix it. Well hopefully as I will let you know tomorrow when mine gets back.

All you need is a 50 cent O ring. It's what I used before sending mine back. No need to spend anymore unless you want to.

I would quote you guys but it always messes up. But I agree on O ring

Yes very simple to zero I went from my 30 nosler to 7 prc and zeroed super fast also wrote down difference and should dial back and be very close

Well my Gen III came back and I have to give them credit the knob now feels like my Gen IIs. Good lock in the up position and very crisp clear clicks. Glad I did it.
That's great! Does Vortex handle the shipping to get this done?

I have both currently, EBR7D as well as the EQL. it's another one of those deals where I think the Gen3 is better but the not 1300 better (msrp)
I haven't put them both side by side in a true comparison yet, but they are both right next to each other waiting for better weather.

Yes just call them up and they will email a shipping label. Mine returned the same way Rob's did. Very happy I sent mine in.
Mine too. Sent mine in to get parallax loosened up a bit early on, but sent it back in around Nov last year and glad I did, turrets are much more to my liking now. Fast turn around and great CS!

I sent both mine in about 1 month apart. Once they send me a "received" email I've gotten them back in less than a week. I just got the "recieved" email on Tuesday of this week, a "sent" email by Thursday, and was delivered today "Saturday". Works fantastic. I had the locking and cap lift removed. Absolutely perfect for switchbarrel rifles.

Took 2-3 weeks for the 2 I sent in. The turrets were not a deal breaker before, but like @Rob01 stated, they feel much more like the Gen 2 turrets now - which is a plus. I have 1 more that will probably go back sometime soon.

Called Vortex this AM and they emailed a USPS label. The Vortex guy told me only the first batch had the weird turrets but I don't think mine was from the first batch since I got it in early Nov last year. Got the Gen 3 boxed up and will take it to the PO tomorrow since they're closed today. Hope it doesn't take too long.

All,

I have a Razor Gen 3 (6x36x56). The distance numbers on the parallax adjustment doesn’t match the actual distance, not even close. For example, at 100 yards the parallax is set to 100 yards and its clear. At 800 yards the parallax needs to be set between 200 and 300 yards to be clear.

I also have a Razor Gen 2 (4.5x27x56), the parallax is spot on at all distances.

Thanks...

That can happen. On my Gen2 Razors, I don’t touch the parralax knob unless I shoot at 100 yards. Beyond that, I spin the knob to around the 500yard mark and never touch it again. It’s very forgiving. Then Gen 3 is not. Parralax adjustment has to be made much more often.

That is one thing I like about the bushnell xrs3 over the Gen 3. Gen 3 you have to change parallax a lot xrs3 was very forgiving
