Hey Guys, I've been looking around a bit for a .450 BM upper, 16-20" barrel. I see a few brands like Bear Creek, Delta Team Tactical, ETC.
Looking at the price, I'm assuming they won't be real great. What upper would you guys recommend?
This will be mainly for deer hunting here in Ohio (straight wall cartridge)
I would like this to be decently accurate, 1.5" groups at 100yards would make me happy.
as far as price range, 400-600 bucks would be great.
Thanks in advance!

Set on semi auto?? The Ruger American ranch is a nice light weight 450bm hunting rig right in your wheelhouse on price

I am, I have a CVA Hunter single shot 450 now that actually shoots really well, but I mainly bow hunt, so an Upper that I can put on an existing lower for the few times that I actually do rifle hunt would be nice. Plus, a big caliber AR sounds like fun

I have a couple original 20” Bushmaster 450 uppers, and they shoot really really well.

I assembled a 450 upper with a 16” Faxon barrel, and with a Sig Romeo red dot and 3x Juliet magnifier, it’s a hell of a woods rifle.

I'm glad you brought up assembling one, I think that may be the way to go!

I've been running a 20" factory Bushy ever since I won it from a Guns Magazine raffle over 10 years ago. I actually won a 16" 5.56 in ATACS camo but Bushmaster said they were out of stock for up to a year, so they offered me this instead. Good trade, as I was flush on the little bores anyway.

It's perfectly accurate, allowing me to stretch it out a bit. That said, once I added a can, it became a bit longer than my normal hunting rifles even. It's doable but I kind of wish I had a 16" barrel, just to help even it out some. Still, the performance is commendable. I just picked up a Ruger American with the 16" barrel for a knock around that'll get the can as well.

Here it is all put together

And here it is out putting bears in the meat grinder.

I run the 16" 16 twist Faxon 450 bushmaster AR , with 185 copper HP to 502 gr cast. Just resize .458 bullets in a cheap Lee sizing die to .452". The 16 twist works on heavy 502 gr subs or fast and cheap bulk .451" 45 ACP bullets, which stand up to the 2400 to 2600 fps instead of 900 fps out of the 45 ACP. With cheap pistol bullets it's a fun and fairly cheap pinker, with lots of power ...add a recoil pad and the fast light bullets can be fired in total comfort, and the heavy loaded 502 gr won't bruise your shoulder.
