Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

I think the GAOTW winner should swap places with #2. Also the last honorable mention girl should be moved up in the standings. I’m not complaining, just making observations based on highly objective non scientific data! And I do appreciate you taking the time to do this, but Your Honor, I object!

What makes you think it has anything to do with technology and not the politics behind it?
I don't care about politics.

It's the MONEY that the car saves, and, frankly, the fact that the thing is blast to drive. Let alone the fact that Americans made the first practical EV that is now being sold world wide as the top EV...

People seem to be ignoring the facts of the situation for the comfort of "I don't like it." It's ridiculous. Just as much as the politicians in Nazifornia forcing EVs on everyone and not paying attention to the electrical grid requiring upgrades if they want all EVs.

If you want to buy an EV, that's fine, do what works for you. Just stop having the rest of us help pay for it.

You guys didn't pay a single cent for my car. Not even close. I'm not in the starter EV league... and I sure as shit didn't get a dime from either the USG or State for this car. There are NO incentives, no HOV lanes, or anything else where is live.

Good on you...you put your money where your mouth is (no disrespect...). But with the .gov ready to give 1.5 billion in tax credits, I'm guessing you're in the minority

Objection overruled! :D

While the silver award winner (#2) is a much more impressive pic overall, and would be GAOW if #1 was not in contention, the "shape" of the #2 derriere is a bit less " spherically round" and much less "fuller" than the GAOW winner. And, the GAOW winner seems to have that perfectly chiseled spherical shape without any cellulite. She's the clear winner, this week.

As for "Honorable mentions," there is no order to them. I pick 4 honorable mentions each week, and each has equal standing. I list them in no particular order.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised that an ex-USAF guy is so anti-technology.
Maybe some of us are surprised at your willingness to embrace the tech. Not saying you are wrong by doing so, and you seem to have a grip on the costs.
I come from the coal and gas industries, so I cherish the fact that I stay misinformed on EV's, and believe all the negatives. Because I hate a certain faction of our population that bad. So hate driven. Also, because I think at some point, power to our homes will be so high unless nuclear power comes back in vogue. I'm not a fan of indigenous citizens demanding lands back, but fuck, they could dismantle every dam on the Columbia today, and I would cheer.

All this chest thumping aside, I would buy a hybrid(?) PU where the gas motor would charge a EV battery, WY is too spread out for EV use.

Typically they get about 200,000 out of the batteries if they drive the car every day. If they don’t drive the car every day and put very little mileage on the car, it tends to kill the batteries, faster believe it or not.
Batteries have cycle lives and the metallurgy of the battery will determine that. Lithium ion batteries can be cycled 3000 to 5000 times. Lead acid only has 1200 cycles. So, the more you cycle the battery the faster you kill it. If the car sits a lot is more than likely the parasitics loads are draining the battery as it sit there, unless it's on a charger.

The bigger question I have related to the lithium ion battery packs is not how long they last… Because they last for about 500,000 miles at 90% capacity… but the question is when it comes time to get rid of the car are they going to consider the battery packs to be toxic waste similar to solar panels?
Batteries as long as they are in the original container and not leaking are consider hazardous material. If they are leaking they will be considered hazardous waste. Both can be recycled, but at a cost. For industrial batteries the owner of the battery is responsible for it until they have the paper work from a recycling facility (The battery death papers). I believe, not sure here, the the OEM would be required to take back the batteries. They could still charge you for taking back the batteries.

Pic because it's required on this thread. My favorite ICE that I have, V8 baby.

Although your posts are a nice review, your choice for winners has no validity unless you are basing it on the number of “likes” each pic receives.

I'm not seeking any one else's validity... My choices aren't about what other people consider valid. They're about what "I" consider valid. That's the whole point. I started this whole thing in order to pay tribute to the people whom I believe posted the best posterior content. It's why I do it.

All are welcome to express what they consider valid as they see fit. I may agree, and I may not... just as some may agree with my choices and some may not. And that's OK. It's how the system works.

Looking at your posting history, you're another one walking a fine line...you have been warned.
Do you think you could send this message to the twits arguing about EV's on this thread. The only thing motivating about their EV banter is motivating me to ask you to tell them to take it an appropriate thread.

I politely asked Glen Dirty MD to take the EV talk to new thread before, apparently he's pretty dense between the ears...so when he started back up with it I just used the ignore option...poof, gone.

I don’t want all T&A but can the EV guys start a new thread.

All joking aside it’s boring and if it’s on it’s own thread there will prob be a more educated discussion as there won’t be 2 pages of non EV between posts.

Just a suggestion

If you go to the dealer and have the battery in your Prius replaced, it’ll cost you $8000.

If you go to an aftermarket shop, you’ll get a battery that 95% as good and it will cost you $2000.
So instead of a Remington, you get a savage.

And now I’m just waiting for all the “just as good” guys to start bickering about which battery is the best

I drive an electric vehicle.
It has an alternator and two 12v batteries.
That electricity is used to run the lights, blower, sensors, computer and other needed accessories.

All of it is powered by a 6 liter diesel engine.
Those do make good generator engines. It’s too bad they don’t make the greatest truck engines…

330,000 miles on it and it has the original head studs.
It does have post nasal drip though. Won't park it in the driveway any more.
Wow, pretty impressive. That engine could have been so much better though. If only Ford hadn’t tried to get ahead of the ridiculous EPA mandates and had designed it themselves
