Been kicking around the idea of a sat phone lately. We don't get a ton of bad weather where I live, but there's been a few times one would have been nice to have. Also might make a cool gift for some friends that live in a hurricane prone area.
I've seen a few 2 way messaging devices, but don't know anything about operation/ reliability.Honestly, if you can text vs talk, those devices may be cheaper/better to run.

T-Mobile is the absolute worst in my location.
