Quality micro red dot sight

All sorts of problems are being reported with the intro of the new model holosun SCS... Keep in mind it has no battery and runs on solar only... The problem with that is most concealed pistols are not exposed to daylight because they're under a shirt or jacket, and neither are pistols inside gun safes and glove boxes. To assume it'll get enough light to power it properly is a big assumption.

Probably the two most common problems with dot optics are 1) shake awake/motion activated, and 2) Solar, it's probably not a good idea to depend on an optic with no battery. There's a reason why none of the world's top SoF troops rely on either of those two gimmicks- too big a risk of failure when needed most.

The two best micro optics right now are the Shield RMSc Glass Edition, and the Trijicon RMRcc.

Also, it's totally unnecessary to have iron sights co-witnessed to the Dot, but it sells a lot of iron sights and tricks people into thinking they need a dot optic that sits super low on the slide. It was normal to have an adapter plate between an optic and slide, until marketing convinced people it was bad.
Then he opened the gospel of lore to the book of Fudd chapter 25 verse 17 and spake…..

That’s a whole lotta wrong….
SCS optics do a have a battery but is supplement and charged by solar. The battery life is 10’s of thousands of hours when used with solar and or it’s shake awake feature.
I dare say the few SOF units that get choose what they use don’t pic shake awake, or solar units simply because they don’t need those features. Endless supply of batteries helps. Additionally the models they do choose to use are likely tried and tested models that have been out longer than either of the those two features have been around.
Shield RMSc a best optic. That would be real news to most of us. Not sure if you’ve seen the sale prices on the RMRcc but in our economy sale means items aren’t popular. IMO the RMRcc biggest downfall is it uses an unpopular footprint.
Making a statement like “irons aren’t need” is the real icing on the cake.

truthfully tho, i'm off of dots on micro guns. on a square range they work great. but it's not always intuitive to pick the dot up running transitions shot to shot. the snappy recoil gets you out of the eyebox easily. and i can't say i shoot them any faster or accurate inside of legal shot distances ie 5 yards. back to irons for next

I. Can't. Even. unpack all the bullshit idiocy contained in that post.

All I got out of it is
  • My grip sucks
  • My index sucks
  • I focus on the dot as it were a front sight
  • I can't manage recoil
  • I have no fucking idea about what justifiable deadly force is or how to articulate it

Anti-American, show me how you replace that internal Chinese battery if it fails! :ROFLMAO:

Multiples of legitimate internet reports VS anecdotal individual reports by CCP fanboiz!

China is fighting a non- shooting economic war against us and they have ICBMs pointed at us- what would it take for you to act like an American and not a democrat- China shooting at our troops?!
Bet half your house was made in China if you shop at any stores

I have a dot on my carry gun, but I’m almost positive Ben Stoeger said basically the same thing.

You're taking whatever Stoeger said out of context, obviously.

The fact of the matter is that red dot sights on pistols expose how much people's draw, index, grip and transitions suck like nothing else.

I don't care what SF/ Delta/ SAS/.MIL use,( Eotechs- that was pure win), I'm not battling in extreme conditions or fast roping out of anything in the dead of night, my carry gear nestles softly against my padded belly.
I'm in agreement with the buy American/stop supporting the Chinese sentiment. It's my hard earned money and I'll put 3x toward American over saving some and supporting the Chinese government.

That said, I'm in agreement that the high speed/low drag .mil/SWAT equipment not being what I personally need or want. Their procurement process might screw up the choice as well. Just because they're stuck using sub-par equipment doesn't mean a civilian has to as well. It's not just the ability to buy airsoft quality crap, but also the ability to buy much better quality stuff as well.

We can joke that civilians don't use it properly in "hard use". But I can get a Yost custom 1911 instead of an LAPD SWAT Kimber. I could run a Glock 19 long before it became more standard use with US mil. I can run a Knights, JP, BCM, LMT in any caliber or configuration I wish. I can modify my gear to fit my needs (have you seen some of the PRS rigs being carried by the pillow monsters?), I can anodize everything bright red or blue if I want.

I can run an AI rifle for plinking at steel plates 200 yards away mounted with a ZCO at 40x shooting surplus Russian ammo that's old and corroded if I want.

Not stuck running whatever some arbitrary (and purposely biased) test chose for me (based on price) by the mil.

I can run Barska or Aimpoint or Tangent... that is the luxury of being a civilian. Getting to play with the cool toys without having to do the 95% of the job that entails effort and sacrifice and work. I might have to work a bit more to afford the toys, but I get to pick and choose which ones I want.

no, I don't get to fly an F-22 Raptor, which I would pay a LOT of $$$ for (anyone got a hookup?)
