Any C6 corvette fans here?

Miles don’t kill a car, owners do. With a 3 owner modded sports car, the likely hood of an abusive owner is high.

You’ll be the 4th owner and when you sell it, that guy will be the 5th owner. I personally won’t touch a 3-5 owner car. I’d look around more, you should be able to find a better example for the same money.

It's a big bucket of parts that bolt and glue together. Anything broken can be fixed.

90% of Corvette owners keep them in the garage and drive them occasionally. They put an exhaust on to make noise to be noticed.

Only thing I'd be worried about is how much it was cold revved to show off the exhaust. It's not like an exhaust actually makes power unless you're well past stock power levels. Dyno comparisons have proven in many instances you lose power over the factory setup with anything less than a straight through glasspack design.

I really like the C5. The 6 look odd to me. But hella performance. The 427 is king though.

I wanted a low mile c5 z06 but the prices went crazy. That's my favorite of the newer vettes but I decided a grand sport was what I wanted to go with.

I wanna thank everyone for putting in their $.02 and sharing your corvette experiences. Keep them coming.

However, I will say this...

It seems most are suggesting I'd be overpaying on that car. After TT&L, it could be mine for $30,000. From what I gathered here, I should be around 27ish but none of you mention TT&L so I take it as 27ish and then still pay TT&L and possibly come out to just under the 30 bands.

I have started looking nationwide to see if I could find these unicorn deals of 1 or 2 owner cars with sub 50k miles. Quite frankly, I've come across very few. They are out there but only a very a few.

I found a few sub 50k miles many states away with asking prices right around 27-29. But when you consider travel expenses to go look at and test drive it, is it even worth it. I am definitely not going to buy it off the internet without seeing it in person.

I test drove one yesterday with 33k miles on it and it drove like absolute shit. You could hear and feel some grinding happening somewhere. The suspension was also crap. It was too loose??? I don't know, it felt like the car was not steady and would sway around almost like if it was floating or something.

I was also at the corvette warehouse in Dallas which they seem to be well established in the state as being the #1 corvette dealer here in TX. They had a maroon vette that looked brand new. Heck, everything they have looks brand new. But that maroon one was idling poor in my opinion. The salesman said it was fine obviously.

All this to say, even those from very reputable dealers or even those 15 states away with 30k miles on them can be problematic.

If you guys can find me these deals on super low miles and 1 or 2 owner cars at much cheaper prices let me know. I mean cheap enough to where I will travel across the country to even see if I will end up liking it because there's no way in hell I'm buying over the phone or internet.

Quick question here,

How many of you would sell me your one owner base c6 Ls3 under 50k miles for $25,000?

Or better yet, a z06 or GS LS3???

Or you could go for option B - buy a older LS camaro for 7-10K (aka the working mans corvette), and then dump the saved 20k into it, and smoke that stock C6 😎

Kidding... but kinda serious

Fuck that 🤦‍♂️

You're on the right track.

Look at Montana/North Dakota.
The ones sold there generally tend to get very few miles, like my buddy that has a c5 convertible with about 25k miles. He makes 1 drive through Yellowstone every summer with his wife and it sits in the shop the rest of the year.
Resale sucks because you can't drive them comfortably 6 months a year either so they're all 100% swinging dick show-off toys.

If you find one in Billings or Bozeman there's enough members here to give you a ride and grab a beer also.

You do need to drive one though, so it has to be cheap enough to abandon it and fly back home, or have several options to drive home.

I never took a c6 on any really long trips(4-5 hours was my longest), but did a few long ones in my C7Z and that car ate the highway miles. Did one day of 14 hours/950 miles... after the 10 hour mark though we were getting a bit fidgety in the seats.

And "straight line car" LOL... There is a reason that Corvette is probably the #2 or #3 car in road racing use in the world(miata, porsche, corvette are likely top 3)... I think they are actually boring straight line cars and not as good as stuff with solid axles because they are harder to launch well without getting wheel hop. Turn them loose on the twisties and they will do far far more than 95% of drivers are comfortable doing.

I've actually been toying with trying to find an 06-09 Z51 manual car to track...after my Miata is finished that is.
I took my C6 on a 17 hour one way trip, then 17 hours back. My ass felt like it was going to melt.

The front end is long on them and that makes it hard to judge oncoming objects, That’s simply my opinion from owing ny c6

Love my 11 GS. Wixom hand-built LS3, 6spd MT, Wide body, F55 magnetorheologic shocks, big brakes, and a top that comes off (can't get that on a C6 Z06 or ZR1)

I didn't know a thing about Corvettes but this was what I could afford and was darn sexy. I prefer the looks of the C6, well except for maybe the C8.

I bought this one last February. An 05, C6, 6 speed manual, which had 26,787 miles and was the 2nd owner. Runs great, isn't loud, fast enough, handles great, brakes great, powered convertable top, had the top of the line package too. No I'm not a car guy as you can tell by my comments compared to others but for the average guy its an awesome car.

My only complaint is of the shifting feel which isn't the best. I think Chevy fixed that for the 06 year. Oh and one of my friends told me that Prince has a song called Little Red Corvette, lol, that he kidds me about, LOL!

We went to Colorado to enjoy the fall foliage, a fantastic trip, but on the way back an object came hurdling towards us out from the top of a truck coming from the opposite way and hit us hard. It did this and man I cussed which I try not to do. It was a chunk of metal the body shop found embedded in the foam bumper backer or whatever its called.

Their cars, from what I have seen when ive gone there, are mostly all sketchy and I personally would never buy one from them. I believe MOST of them are auction cars and they dont know the history on. They clean them up and make them look nice and I believe most of their sales are online and un-inspected...

Corvette World over in Carrolton is a different place. Their cars are stupid nice, but you will pay for it and honestly I wouldnt mind paying a bit more for one of their cars.

If you live in DFW area and are looking at Corvette's the prices are always a bit higher here in DFW on Corvettes.

If that 08 you are looking at is around 28k and then you will go pay TT&L thats not a horrible deal. I would want to offer like 26k and see if they come down 1k and shake hands. I think that car is a 26-27k car all day long. If it had 25k less miles it might be worth 28k...

Random Corvette thoughts during lunch break at NCM...

A C6Z makes a great dedicated track car. Much different vibe than a S2K or Miata-shaped object, but dang they can be quick in the hands of a competent driver.

I'd rather have a C7GS than a C7Z, even though the Z would be faster on straights.

The C8 Z51 rotates around an apex like a mofo, no more spending 718 GT4 money for mid-engine performance. Can't wait to see what the C8Z does around VIR for Lightning Lap.

You think corvette world would be any different? They're going to know complete history for every car and none of them come from auction?

I checked them out already though. I had never heard of them until just now that you mentioned it. They only have two C6 vettes between Dallas and Houston. Both are convertible which I dislike and will not consider.

Oh and I have to ask,

Are corvettes really sold differently than regular everyday cars? As in you show up with cash, you negotiate, and they only drop down $100 to maybe $500 if you're lucky?

I buy and sell used cars/trucks and I know there is always wiggle room. However, I've never bought/sold sports cars.

Usually you show up with the money, and you can negotiate a few thousand dollars. Not at all what I'm seeing here so idk if when you transition from regular everyday $7,000 cars to more luxury/sport type cars there is a smaller margin... 🤔🤔🤔

The sports car market is starting to cool...higher interest rates, gas prices & winter coming.

It is still pretty hot at the moment, though...

JSB is an awesome color, and that is a great looking car! I have a cyber gray C6Z and I have always loved corvettes. As for the questions:

Price is so variable with these cars, and depends on a lot of factors. Trim level is crucial. More on that below. But you listed the mods, and the mods on it make it look great and there’s some value to them for sure. Those look like morimoto Headlights, very desirable and they cost 1400 by themselves. The stock headlights have always been one of the negatives in my opionon on the C6’s, they just don’t look good. But those morimotos are styled after C7 headlights and look fantastic. I want a set someday but 1400 for headlights isn’t cheap.

https://www.vette-lights.com/collec...5-2013-c6-corvette-morimoto-xb-led-headlights

It’s hard to tell specifics from the pics but like you said there’s also an aftermarket spoiler, smoked side clearance lights (unsure if just painted or smoked or aftermarket LED or what) and LED taillights, can’t tell from the pics but possibly eagle eyes maybe?

The wheels look like C7 Z06 wheel style, probably repros due to the offsets but I’m no expert. If they are actual original C7Z wheels they have been known to crack sometimes and have issues, just fyi. Good tires for these cars are not cheap, can’t remember if you said what condition they were in.

Trims are extremely important for pricing, earlier someone mentioned a trim level in their corvette, but if you look at the interior features of the car you might be able to figure it out and it might impact the values you’re seeing. 1-4LT on the base models. See this link:

If you’re really looking for info on all things (including pricing) on corvettes then that above link to the corvette forum is a fantastic place to start. Click on the forums tab at the top left and go to the C6 section and C6’s for sale and find what you are looking for or similarly optioned cars and see what they go for. I lurked there for years learning and checking pricing before I bought mine and it really helped me to find a good deal and make informed decisions. Same reason I’m on this site to learn about these specific skill sets and equipment. Just some suggestions.

But the car you are looking at looks great and has some nice mods that aren’t cheap. Ultimately, what’s it worth to you? Whatever you decide, once you get one enjoy it!

I actually found that forum today in the morning and went through the c6 for sale section. I was not able to find anything significantly better enough to make me disregard the car I'm currently after.

It looks like this JSB car is a 1LT because I don't remember it having the HUD. However, that was the 2nd car I looked at, and at that point, I still didn't know about all these trim levels so I wasn't specifically trying to look for that.

I agree, the headlights look like morimotos and they are not cheap at all. That said, I'm not the biggest fan.

The spoiler appears to be a zr1 type. Depending on where you buy, it can from about 250 to 600 bucks. This, I do value. Whichever car I end up buying, I am wanting to add this to it if it does not already have it.

The tail lights I am also a bit unsure which they are. There are two types that I really like, and the eagle eyes is one of them. The ones on this car are aftermarket LED and even if they are not the eagle eye, I would not be replacing them.
If the corvette I bought had factory tail lights, I'd be spending to have them replaced for some like these or the eagle eyes.

Side reflector pieces is the same story. Idk what brand they are, but they are LED aftermarket. Whichever car I end up with, this is one mod I wanna do. That, or color match to the car. Because having a red on the back and orange on front makes it look cheap imo???

The wheels I have no idea if they are genuine GM or not. While not my favorite style, I don't dislike them enough (like on other corvettes I saw with different wheels) to where I would be replacing them. The tires were good on wear and tear, still plenty of life.

I have seen so many different corvettes and almost every one had a different set of wheels. I wish I knew what specific model or trim level they each came from factory. I saw so many C6 with these same wheels though. Some were in black, other were in chrome.

Heck I’ll take those morimotos off your hands if you end up buying it and not wanting them! I’ll trade you my stock headlights as shown here! 😜

Sell me your car for 27k and I'll agree to put some morimotos on it lol.

That's a beautiful car by the way. One of the cats I went to go see yesterday was cyber gray. I thought I didn't like that color. Physically seeing it in person though, it changed my mind.

OP, wait another 6 mos and get it cheaper
Won't they go up cuz people will be getting their tax refunds then? And the weather will be warming up too. I thought now was the time since it's gonna start snowing and people park their cars for a few months.

🤔🤔

Agreed, it wasn’t my first choice of color but I got a good deal and the color has really grown on me, I really like it now. I’m in the middle of some mods (wheels, wrapping the roof/halo, marker lights, etc that will make it look awesome in my opinion, I can’t wait to finish them!

Higher interest rates, tapped-out credit cards, layoffs, and a general tapering-off of pandemic spending habits are going to be far more impactful than getting a few grand of our own money back from Uncle Sam.

I've been a participant in the car market for more than thirty years, and paid attention for several years prior to getting my license when my dad bought and sold some cars. Over that time, "late model" Corvettes (which at this point pretty much means anything from the EPA era onward) have never retained any significant value. Maybe that's been changed permanently by the pandemic, but it's going to take a few more years of elevated pricing to convince me.

You think corvette world would be any different? They're going to know complete history for every car and none of them come from auction?

I dont know where they get all their cars from. I sold my 2019 C7Z to them. But their history has always shown their cars to be above average cars when I have looked at them. Their cars always demand a little more money than Corvette Warehouse. I wont say Corvette World knows 100% the history of all the cars they buy, but they arent buying the cars that Corvette Warehouse buys thats all I know and I have been into both places multiple times over the past 6-7 years.

People get more emotionally attached to Corvette's and other "toys" so they are less likely to haggle. If you find a car at a dealer your negotiation will likely be just like buying any other car from them.

Ive privately sold 3 or 4 of my Corvettes and I always look at the market to price the car at the market and then I expect to close a deal 1000-1500 below that number as I figure thats where just about every car, that actually sells mind you, ends up. My 02 Z06 was the exception where the guy said "man your price is fair with all the work you have done, im good with it".

The 2 C6 vettes from corvette world are actually pretty cheap compared to most everything else I'm looking at. However, they are convertibles haha.

Anyhow, I agree that there is usually enough wiggle room to where $1,000 to $1,500, sometimes even more, can easily be taken down from the asking price when you take them the money.

I found it pretty crazy yesterday when I was looking at the first one of the day. I told the salesman that we had seen enough and wanted to get down to business. He told me to make an offer and I did. He goes inside to his boss or whoever, and comes back out saying they'll go down $200 from asking price. 😂😂😂

The second corvette I saw was the JSB. The owner went down $500 and gave me a whole lesson on how things aren't the same with these cars as it is with normal cars regardless of taking cash in hand.

Then I go in to corvette warehouse and they made it very clear that they never ever negotiate. What the window price is, is what you pay.

Fourth corvette I saw also dropped $500 from asking price.

Fifth and sixth I didn't even try anymore, I didn't like the condition they had those in.

Man it's tough out here hahaha...

people are delusional that the party is going to go on forever. They will sit on their shit. Just like people who are still trying to list and sell houses for the prices they were going for in June/July of this year... the market is down 10%+ and shits not selling.

There are other Corvettes... They made a fuck ton of them.

If you are in Dallas and you want me to come look at any for you or with you, let me know, ive owned 11 and I generally have spare time.

people are delusional that the party is going to go on forever. They will sit on their shit. Just like people who are still trying to list and sell houses for the prices they were going for in June/July of this year... the market is down 10%+ and shits not selling.

Man,

This is really badass and I appreciate the offer. It sure would help to have someone with more knowledge and experience on my side. I think at this point though, I've seen most of what there is in Dallas in my price range.

Watched an old documentary on Callaway with my son the other night.
Stupid engineering and design upgrades.

Drove the car cross country to run on track against Porsche, Merc, Ferrari and a few others. Smoked them with a 254mph track speed then drove it back home. Very impressive.

I'm trying to help my buddy sell his 06 Lemans blue with tons of upgrades/mods. He's disabled and it only has ~12,720 miles. It's a hard car to move because it has mods most people don't want. They surely don't hold their value, I had nearly the same car except mine was a 1LT with magna flows and a cold air kit, took me a year to sell it about 7 years ago........

Just don’t get one with the stupid colors on the seats. I’ve been loosely shopping for a C6Z for a while. Hate it when I find one that could be just right and then the seats have patches of blue leather on em.

I hear you on the mods issue. I've seen two already that are fully bolted and cammee out. To be honest, I won't touch one of those unless it was me modding it to my preference.

Whenever someone's gotta get some work done on it, they won't wanna touch it either without knowing what all is in it.

I don’t know any man that doesn’t want a blown corvette.

But Try posting it on ls1tech or yellowbullet, or Facebook lsx pages. You’ll have much better luck. I think Facebook is the new spot people are posting though. Ls1tech and yellow bullet used to be big, but everyone is on FB selling now. Craigslist ain’t gonna do it

Also @ the OP. Check out those communities as well for cars

Maybe if you were young but it's not my cup of tea, but as to FB and other media it has to be a local sale. You would have to see and drive an animal like this it's ridiculous. Plus there are so many scammers out there it's absurd. I've sold many cars over the years and been constantly barraged with idiots. Most want more pictures, and videos pretend they are interested then never contact you again. Very similar with guns, lots of scammers, tire kickers and low ballers. Just the nature of the beast. And then there's how to get paid, don't get me started LOL. I do love the new C8's but they have had lots of beta issues like all Corvettes......

I’d stay away from high miles corvettes. 76k is a lot. Lots of nicer lower miles options I bet. You could probably get an 06-07 Z06 with that many miles in your price range. I’d probably take $40k for my 08 Z with 12k miles and 600whp.

Thanks to all who participated in this thread and gave advice. After countless hours of researching cars for sale, test driving cars, talking to vette owners, seeing videos on pros/cons, etc., I have gained enough knowledge to where I felt comfortable making a decision.

I found a single owner, low miles, 4lt, npp exhaust option 2010 GS. I put a hold on it with a $1,000.00 deposit. If all goes well, I will wire the money tomorrow and be a proud vette owner.

The previous owner put on it just about every chrome accessory you could buy off of the corvette magazines. My plan is to de-chrome it ASAP.

I always thought torche red was a beautiful color. However, after seeing it in person, I've come to the realization that it isn't exactly my cup of tea and I like the metallic colors so much better. Anyhow, once I de-chrome the car and personalize it more to my liking, I'm sure I will like it way better. The color is gonna have to grow on me.

Enjoy some pics...

Bumping this thread to mention I've been away from the forum for a while. I used to be here on the hide daily but ever since I bought the corvette, rifles have not been my priority.

Enjoy these pics.

I've dropped the car very slightly and removed all those ugly chrome accessories.

Still want c6 spyder wheels for on 345 rear tires but the wheels are very hard to find in competition grey finish. Will probably be tinting all around sometime soon.

Oh, also added zr1 splitter and side skirts. It's coming along!!!

Car looks great….. I need to get mine out and drive

I'm not sure what HPDE means...

By "base" I meant non-Z06. Ultimately if you're willing to pay, that's all that really determines value. It is a good lookin' car...

HPDE = High Performance Driver Education = "track day".

Back in the day when I played in SCCA they would sucker some of us regulars into "instructors". Being younger at the time late 30's and the extra money was good.

One thing I will say about "track days" is if you have ever "really raced" it is a total bore. Put new pads all the way around before you go, and you are going to find the real short comings of "street tires", and REAL short comings if you think you are hot shit at playing in parking lots (auto x). Quite funny. Also if you are not ready to push the car into the river don't put it on the track, bad can happen. Don't be a dick if your car fails tech, if you are you will have a very hard time getting in anywhere in the division. Word travels fast, it is a very small group of folks.

Weekend cruiser for short drives only... garage queen!

I have read on the vette forums that a few folks had issues with factory wheels. Not so much cracking as bending a bit and they were losing air but I have not had an issue after several pot holes over the years. The only wheel issue I have had has been with the local tire shop gouging up the front wheels after putting on new tires. Took me about six months but they finally bought me new wheels.
