What firearm youtube channels do you like?

I watch many of the ones mentioned from time to time. But for some reason some of the intro or collaborations they do just seem annoying. I like the informative type like X-ring and what not.

A couple others (although they have their quirks to them) are Pursuit of Accuracy and Joe the Cyclops or whatever it’s called. For the rimfire stuff

@Doc68 @Bacarrat I just went to his website and YouTube channel to prove you both wrong.... I was wrong. How did I not see it? 🤣
Have you not noticed all his builds are the same components.... from the sponsors. Same goes with that dude in SA. It's basically a paid advertisement for MDT and Vortex....

He once pimped out some 500 dollar dies that had no adjustment for neck bushings, or micrometer seating. Just made the ammo and that was it. Nothing to say to justify the stupid die pricing.

I really don't have a problem with him pimping out products but shit man, at least say you are paid by the sponsor to pimp it out. I think it's the law to state that in certain countries to say that you are.

Beyond the obvious... Forgotten Weapons... I really do like those videos.

But there is another channel that absolutely applies to firearms (and all things precision) and it is called: Wristwatch Revival. Its a dude named Marshall who has crazy skills (and bravery) restoring old and even new-ish watches.

Now what makes this a gun-person channel? Because if you are going to revive, restore, maintain or otherwise really have a great time getting, truly, inside guns... especially with vintage stuff, this guy is the sort of 'restorer' you want to be. Everything has a solution. A correct tool. The right oil... the right technique. The whole process is calm, patient... no drama. Weeks to find parts -- yup, that's right on. Great documentation and photographing.

If you want to see restoration at its most pure... that channel's lessons apply to watches, clocks, cars, guns, fishing reels... anything. Absolutely anything that needs to be restored.

Be like Marshall! ;-)

Cheers,

Sirhr

Absolutely love Wristwatch revival. One thing about watching those restorations is that how simple but yet complex watches are and it's totally amazing that they figured all this out without modern CNC machinery.

Restoration vids way more entertaining to watch then the majority of the firearms related videos out there. The attention to detail Click Spring and MyMechanics have in their videos are amazing to watch.

I think I follow IQ8888 I've been watching videos from oldest to newest on the channels I've mentioned I just haven't gotten to his yet. I completely forgot about Brandon I love his darwin awards videos. I'll totally check out those other channels. I've never heard about VA Meat hunter I'll check him out when I used to do CQ in the army I got addicted to Meat Eater for a while.

Garand Thumb just reminds me the most of military dudes that were in during my time of service humor, shit talking and all. Fucking love it.

I've never looked into Cleckner. I saw his thing on warrior poet society I need to check him out. WPS has ok stuff but it didn't pull me in.

I've never even heard of Tiborasuarus Rex. Does that in any way have association with Trex arms?

Hell ya dude. See I'm the opposite I spent 10 years in the Army, grew up in the sticks of FL with parents that were never home so I never learned how to hunt. Not against it at all, one of my squad leaders was a big hunter and he was like dude one deer will fill your freezer with meat for a while (single guy) compared to how much money you spend on meat at the grocery store. One day I'll get there.
Rex Tibor (Tiborsaurus Rex) is not affiliated with Trex. And no military history. He has some college in something and he has hunted and pursued long range shooting and also seminars, such as the one Lowlight went to. Which is not to say that he cannot teach. Just like, some famous singing coaches can't sing very well but they can teach it.

Teaching is a skill, separate from the subject matter. On that, I do have some experience. I have been a teacher of the trade skill that I have and it is different than doing the physical work.

Actually from what I saw on one of the other channels I can't remember if it was TFB or something but same goes with Trex arms. No military or law enforcement experience, but he outshoots most of the shooters on youtube just by how much time he spends training.

True. But I still rely most upon the advice of retired military snipers for shooting. My favorite book is Ryan Cleckner's "Long Range Shooting Handbook." Very basic and clearly written and designed to get you on target. And if you have a rifle that can average 1 MOA or so, that is good enough for what his work was and what hunting is. Of course, hitting the X at 800 yards is a different story and that is where you can spend a few grand on a barrel, a few grand on an action, a grand and a half on a chassis, 4 to 9k on an optic. You can spend on one rifle what most people spend on a car. But that is the passion and the pursuit.

Lately, I was watching that Ultimate Reloader and his 7 mm PRC build. That hoopla around that cartridge has me thinking about it and this guy builds it the way that I would, though maybe with an optic different than Blackhound. For that much or a little more, I could get a Night Force.

For me its

1.) Mark and Sam after work (love the long range stuff)
2.) Forgotten Weapons (fave)
3.) X-Ring (wide variety of stuff from pistols, 22lr to long range—-don’t like the new stuff with the music and fancy intro—felt more real before)
4.) Garand thumb (just fun—good sense of humor)
5.) Brandon Herrara—-fun guy and entertaining
6.) classic firearms—-decent stuff
7.) Hickok45—love his stuff on older guns but not so much newer stuff)
8.) 1911 syndicate—-fun stuff

Not gun related—-Critical Drinker—-best movie reviewer on YouTube and is usually 100 percent spot on and funny.

I use to watch TFTB—James was fun for a while but his smugness just got irritating over time
Honest Outlaw—-his reviews became so repetitive—ie low bore axis and CZ is the best blah blah
The military arms channel—will still tune in occasionally but not like I did before—has some good information

Forgotten Weapons for when I wanna be educated. Kentucky Ballistics for when I need a quick dose of autism for the day. I miss FPSRussia doing gun vids, but at least his weekly podcast is still going strong.

I didn't know who Clint Smith was until watching TFB he's got great knowledge. What I would love to see is like a youtuber shootout. All the big names just on a range having fun together. Have a 9 holes style course setup for long range to see whos the best, then maybe get garandthumb and vickers together to set up like a tactical pistol/carbine course. So basically like a cooler version of 3 gun with less spandex but more of a tactical side to it. Kind of like the thing Forgotten weapons does when he dresses like x with whatever platform/year of weapon system.

I met a guy here in Colorado that worked with GBRS he loved it. I forgot what he did in the military, but super cool guy always helping people out.

I have seen a range day like that with a few of the youtube names hosted by Eric at IV8888.

I think I might have seen the same one. But I don't think any of the big names where out there. I think one of the TFB guys was there, forgotten weapons was at one, and MAC. I just want to see Larry Vickers, and Garandthumbs shooting skills compared to some of these other guys especially at the range day that had the tactical shoot and move scenarios that Miles from TFB went to. Lately Garandthumb has done a few things with his crew kinda having fun. Which is funny as hell Mika and Charlie crack me up.
