The AR15 Picture Thread

Sometimes I'll get it in my head to want to change something on my SPR because reasons but then I'll take it to the range and I'll be like "nah, I'll leave it as it, why fuck up a good thing". I did swap out the Magpul K2 XL for the old Sierra Precision grip. At the range today, it was just a laser with a run of the mill WOA barrel and IMI 77gr RC. It stacked three rounds in the head on a 454 yard IPSC, did well in timed prone to 1st shot drills out to 425 yards, and I was pretty satisfied after some tripod, and sling work.

LMT 5.56 owners- how heavy is the MARS/MRP standard barrel compared to gov't profile?
In photos it looks quite a bit thicker/heavier than a M4/.gov contour..?? Also, what kinda groups could one expect from them?

@MSTN ..??

I've never had a LMT barrel that didn't shoot sub-MOA. LMT barrels are inherently heavier than average due to the shank design which allows for the switch barrel system.

Brand new still. Haven’t shot it. Does have a savvy super sniper sling that is my absolute favorite. LMT LS Lower/PRI MK12 upper along with a Leupold VX-R Patrol Riflescope. Love my setup. Sling isn’t attached right now but it’s in my room 🥴

Here's a blast from the past - An as-new MSTN Hard Use Carbine from 2007-2008 time frame! Noveske 16" HFCL barrel with mid-length gas - feed ramps contoured and polished, Vltor MUR 1-A upper, Vortex flash hider, Young Mfg N/M bolt carrier with LMT bolt fitted at 1.4666" - all Ionbond DLC coated, BCM 3B charging handle, LMT lower, Timney trigger, Magpul MIAD and early Gen 2 Pmag, plus Vltor IMOD stock. That's a first year of production Aimpoint T-1 on top in a Larue mount. How about that super-rare Knight's URX III with integral flip up front sight???

URX 3/3.1 is timeless and will never be obsolete.

If only @USMCSGT0331 would post up some of his 1 SFOD-D trade-in SR16's and SR25's... his collection is masturbation-worthy

This whole thread will make you happy! So many nice guns. I’ll add mine in I guess.
Mega MML set 5.56, BCM bcg, Geissele Sd-e, proof stainless barrel, Steiner T6xi. It loves 77 SMK’s.

Threw together a bastard child from parts I had laying around. It may be my new favorite.

16" 223 Wylde, M4 contour with mid-length gas.
Rifle buffer and stock.

It shoots SO smooth and flat. The red dot doesn't move on target.

Ran 5 rounds as fast as I could hammer the trigger from the bench at 36 yards after sightin, and this was the group...

I hate to tell you this, but I actually sold almost everything out of my AR15 collection. Literally 30+ perfect uppers, my SR25 Battle Rifle and even my 7.62 SR25QD silencer (that silencer alone was pricey). I'm focusing on USMC only now, so I kept ever that's USMC related. I also kept a few select pieces to hold on to, like my original 5th Group SPR upper (damn near priceless, it was in Afghanistan in October 2001, only one month after 9/11, and it's our military's first attempt at an FDE pattern), my 15.1" SEAL RECCE and my GL/SSC. Everything else is scattered to the winds. Some stuff really hurt to sell, especially my Mk12 Mod 0, that ome was spectacular! I just don't have the room for anything, I've even started selling my sniper rifles and parts. I have way too much stuff, so unfortunately some of it has to go. But here's some photos of the good times:

Anyone who went to shot show and saw some new AR products I’d love to hear about them. Primarily lpvo’s and other optic set ups.

here's my LMT. cut the barrel to 13.7 and had Dwilson PnW the nox.

…just added a 13.7” White Oak barrel with a pinned NOX to my primary pig gun as well; silver soldered mine though. Came out right at 16.1” from the bolt face, damn timing shims cost me 0.099”

i-m2jjB3q.jpg

Ironic since it’ll be run suppressed 100% of the time, and I could have just pinned it in any position since it won’t show, but knowing it was under there all cockeyed would drive my inner OCD freak nuts! LoL

Edit: And yes, the barrel looks scratched to hell. White Oak ships their bare barrels with the gas block journal very, very slightly oversized … like 0.002” … to help ensure a good gas seal. I typically use titanium gas blocks to eliminate the need for that (grows slower than the steel barrel = tighter fit as the barrel heats up), but had to cut a few strips of 320 grit sandpaper to polish down the journal by hand; think like old school shoe polishing with a rag. Once I got it close, I stepped up to 600 grit to leave fewer marks, and to ensure I didn’t go past what was needed to get the gas block on with a couple light taps from a soft mallet.

I’d normally break out some polishing compound and the buffer to clean it up some more, but this way I won’t worry about it out in the brush. Kind of like getting that first scratch on a new truck, LoL.

looks good. i dont have a lot of experience assembling a AR15 outside of learning and putting together 2 lower's, the LMT being the last lower and a Aero M4E1 as the first. also. you are right about the muzzle device not mattering too much, but for me, i just thought WELL IF I ever take it off I want to make sure that it goes back on the same way without trying to fight to find the grooves.

This is my second LMT and it’s 100% my everyday go to due to how compact it is. The mobility of this tool just makes it a no brainer for cover whatever work I need to do.
That 13.7 looks sexy and I’m sure you enjoy the reliability of LMT!

sooo. it's my first LMT ever. i've only had to date. over the last 1.5years, PSA > Aero 13.9 build > LMT build. I can't wait to shoot it, the ONLY thing that semi concerns me, is i dont have a enhanced LMT bolt. so I picked up a JP enterprises enhanced bolt and hoping she runs, before I was just using a toolcraft FA BCG when the barrel was still 16", wont lie. if the specwar ever drops and i can get my hands on it id switch to it from the 9.25"

If light weight, maneuverability, repeatability, dependability, accuracy, and amazing long range capability - on top of just plain good looks - are what you're after, then this may be the right rifle for you. The build starts with a San Tan Tactical STT-15 Hybrid ambi billet receiver set and Geissele MK 16 15" rail done in Accuracy International Dark Earth Cerakote. Add a 16" Proof carbon fiber barrel with intermediate length gas system. Contour and polish the feed ramps. Ideal headspace is ensured with a JP Enhanced bolt and full mass bolt carrier. Regulate the gas flow (with or without a suppressor) optimally with an SLR adjustable gas block. Manage recoil, blast, and flash with the unique OSS/HUXWRX muzzle brake. An ambi Geissele Super Charging Handle not only cycles the action but helps minimize gas to the face shooting suppressed. Control your precision shots with a Trigger Tech Adaptable trigger dialed down to 2.75 pounds, on V Seven titanium fire control pins. The safety is the 57 degree short throw ambi model from V Seven's sister company, Dark Hour Defense. The recoil system is the latest and I believe greatest offered to date, the BCM MK II, with H1 weight recoil buffer. It is held in place by the uncannily well designed Fortis K2 receiver end plate and castle nut. Magpul MOE SLR stock and K2 pistol grip do their job well. Included is the only reliable 6mmARC magazine I've found, by Duramag (25-RD version).

I second Duramag for 6 arc. I tried everything else on the market when I had my 6 ARC. Everything either bulged, didn't feed right, wouldn't drop free, couldn't be inserted, held way lower than advertised capacity, etc. Duramag delivered on all points.

New video is up with my new Otter Creek Labs Polonium 5.56 suppressor! This is the quietest 5.56 suppressor I've ever shot, and it sounds amazing!

Nice, mine is still is jail from June 2022. How the gassiness?

You should be coming up soon. My Hydro-S 7.62 was 5/17, and it got approved on 2/10. I just started the process on this one so I'm a little over 30 days in on this one. It'll be a while... 😑

Dude, I know Jay said it has a lot of back pressure, but honestly, mine isn't anymore gassy than either of my Sandman-S cans on that rifle... Brass still ejects at 3 o'clock (same as my SMS), still the same amount of gas in your face (inside the building with no wind) as my SMS if I run it hard, and behind the gun, it sounds about the same DB volume as my SMS... BUT... It is significantly quieter as a bystander. There's a huge difference between them from 5+ feet away from the shooter...Which is where that muzzle DB reduction numbers really come into play...And downrange volume, as well.

Honestly, for $550, it's a no-brainer. It's easily the best duty-rated 5.56 can I've ever shot. It stomps the YHM cans i've heard hands-down, and everything else in that price range by a wide margin. I haven't shot a Sierra5 yet, so I can't compare it to that...But I am interested in trying a Sierra5 someday.

My thoughts are... If you don't have any/many suppressors and want something kind of universal, but hardcore/duty rated, for many different guns/calibers, then go with the Sandman-S or Nomad-30. But, if you DO want something that is dedicated for 5.56/6mm rifles, then without question, get a Polonium.

Good to hear. This will be my second can. My other one is an OSS 762 QD that now resides on my 308 gasser. I expect more blowback with the Polo compared to that (obviously) but I am curious as to how much. And yes, I listen to most of Jay’s podcasts and try my best to infer from that.

Mine will be either mounted via direct thread or a Rearden flash hider.

Yeah, I'm heavily invested in KeyMo for most of my range and gas guns (precision bolt guns and hunting rifles I run direct thread), so I pretty much have to immediately buy a $250 mount every time I buy a new can. 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼 I wish they cost about $100 less than they do, sure would be nice. Dead Air needs to do a KeyMo program, where if you buy more than 3 of them you start getting a discount. LOL
