I was a big New York Ranger fan back when Gretzky was on the team. I remember they had "enforcers" on the teams to protect the star offensive guys. Good fights.
Steve Fletcher was one of the enforcers on the Komets when I was in HS. He and I went to the same gym, he did kickboxing class right before my bjj class. Slid in and held the bag and gloves a few times for kickboxing. He was the reason to go watch a Komets game, they damn near had a seat reserved for him in the penalty box.

Do kids these days even care about spectator sports? Mine sure don't. I've been a great parent!
There is a lot to this... Football? Spoiled kneeling nappy-headed thugs. Basketball? Even worse thugs (and that includes the irrelevant WNBA). Baseball? They're all Mexicans except for the Hondurans. Soccer? Puhleeze... Eurotrash Nancy boys. NASCAR? Bunch of Northeastern sissies from Go-Kart tracks living a soap opera and throwing helmets. Hockey... Pads and Ukrainians. Formula 1... Pathetic! Noone ever passes the leader. Tennis? Ah ha hah ah. All homos. Cricket... too Pakistani.
That said, there are some things every kid should see at least once... The Reno Air Races. Bonneville Salt flats speed trials. Iditarod. Highland Games. A Cannon race at a military tattoo. (See below). Camp Perry. A Giant Slalom. 24 hours of LeMans or Sebring or Daytona. Isle of Mann TT. The Dakar and Baja 1000.
But, hey, get the kids hooked on long range shooting or motorcycles or fast cars or live artillery and they'll never have money for drugs.
