Chinese Balloon

Everyone associated with this debacle will make at least one rank.

We will stencil a balloon on a $300 million fighter.

There will be chest thumping.

There will be free drinks at the "O" club.

There will be a $100 billion program to combat balloons.

That is where we are in 2023. We can't make recruiting goals but we can shoot down a balloon.
Do they fly in hookers for the "O" club ?

1. The US could have dropped that into the ocean near the Aleutians. Wey before it crossed into continental US. But didn't: Aiding and abetting the enemy. Enabling in the language of the youngters.
2. The weak excuses being offered, are what my black NCOIC used to call Shilly-Shallying.
3. Wait. Maybe instead of being nefarious, China is just checking up on it's investments.

I have two main thoughts:

1. I know I'm not the only one here who served in the USAF and know what NORAD and ADIZ are. This thing NEVER should have been allowed to enter airspace over USA territory. Full stop.

2. I don't care that they shot it down AFTER is made a complete pass over our country. Does anyone doubt that any intell collected was downloaded in real/near time? I mean, its not like the Chinese are sitting out in the Atlantic to pick it up. That's utter BS. No, the damage, if any, has already been done.

Fucking Democrats...POS, pandering, fucking pussies, each and ever fucking one.

Since the sensor pkg was shot out from underneath the balloon, it hit the water with the same velocity as the Challenger wreckage.

Could have poked a nice hole in the balloon for a somewhat controlled descent, but whoever won the base commander's lottery decided a high speed run would be more impressive (footage shows the victorious fighter streaking past after the heroic kill. Not even an orbit first. Just Leeeeeeeeroy Jenkins.

Now it will be months, if not years before we know what they were collecting.

Every Intel analyst cried out when they saw that sensor pkg plummet from beneath the balloon, with bits of solar panels fluttering after ..

How far can a railgun shoot?

A railgun’s effective range is closely related to the speed at which it can launch a projectile. Land or ship-based railguns with Mach 6 capabilities are understood to have practical ranges of roughly 126 miles (202.8 km) or 110 nautical miles (177.03 km) at sea.

In this case, the shoot down was the cover up. The weapon selection, the location, the timing.

In the case of the laptop, the Supreme Court leak, Hillary email, classified docs, the investigation itself is the cover up.

Do not think for a second that these demonic people would stop at anything to maintain power. If they had dropped the balloon in Montana, then someone like me would have beat them to it, taken a bunch of pics and then they would have lost control of the "narrative". The narrative is the thing.

Tomorrow on all the "Sunday Shows" you will hear nothing but "narrative".

Jeebus, supposedly the F22 hero used a missile.

Does Langley take orders from Xi?

"Aim for the payload!"

Guessing these guys:

Of course he used a missile. Don’t be silly. What, you think he should have closed for guns?

This does not seem to be the type of operation you have much familiarity with.

I think some of you guys need some serious meds. Wow

The chineese can claim a win - they got all the days of telemetry/photos/wire data, plus propoganda
Our gummit can claim a win "we shot it down"

Barn door shut, after ....

Its the message.
We let the balloon complete its journey across the US transmitting its data to China, then we shoot it down destroying all evidence of what it is/was.

Or...
We could have recovered/stolen it just as it entered US airspace and used it as a trophy on every news network for China to see. Take pictures of it sitting on the tarmac with a sign saying (Dare you to come and get it). We all know what message our (Spy in Chief is sending)

When Joe and Hunter were in China getting money you don't think they threw a few escorts or children their way. When they say Hunter was selling access to Joe when he was in office they actually mean giving them access to government documents that Joe can get his hands on. Would you pay millions simply to talk to Joe the halfwit I don't think so , your buying Top Secret information from someone willing to sell out his Country so he could live a better life of a elite.

So, forget closing for guns. That is a short range weapon, typically fired from a position at adversary’s rear, and they damn aren’t precion rifles for a reason. They are intended to put out a bit of a pattern to increase probability of impact. To close on and gun what is, relatively speaking, a stationary object at a high rate of closure is essentially a low prob snap shot with no less of a prob of shooting any sensor package. Those guns shoot Minute of MiG.

And there is the fact that this ballon was above the F-22’s svc ceiling so that’s another reason to not take a gun shot.

There are reports that it was shot w an AIM-9 heat seeker. It’s not surprise it locked and homed on any warm active electronics.

Nothing that could have been shot at has the precision some of you guys think.

Annular blast frag sorta ensures everything gets torn up. Could they send it with the warhead disabled? Just poke holes in the barroon? Or send the yamrams which should see the balloon as a bigger target than the payload, maybe?

Plan B: just supercruise past it, wouldn't the wake turbulence degrade the balloon without fragging the payload?

Plan C: dig out on of the old aerial/satellite film capsule retrievers, tie it to a Global Hawks or whatever our highest flying drones are, and just drag the dang thing down.

Worth burning a few (hundred?) million to capture the payload intact, since we give away billions for more futile efforts.

This whole thing was one big embarrassment. I hope to God they at least had enough sense to use the opportunity to feed it a bunch of false intel.

Oops. Wrong retriever

Nice old Connies (ec121's) @8:00, hercs @9-ish

Bet that dude is thinking “Four more and I will be an Ace”
Once upon a time, he would have the new call sign of 'balloon boy' and would be carpet bombed with a metric ton of balloons for the rest of his career.

Now that sort of stuff would be considered bullying... and he'd have to have therapy.

So what has more ground hazards per square mile…..

Myrtle Beach boat traffic or Montana inhabitents….

?

Just trying to gauge how many pinocchios on General Bullethead of the Air Force.

I would ask the NSA for a good encryption that they know the chicoms have broken, work up some header with super classification, have the lads encrypt Goatse* and let their spy balloons and satellites "discover" it.

Especially pleasing if it takes them hours to decode it.

General Miley and the Secretary of the Air Force are about to reveal that the pilot who shot down the China barroon was the nation's first LGBTQT fighter pilot.
I would not doubt it one bit. Not one damn bit.

why not a simple drone, any high school student could design and 3D print up a simple catch n drag solution to bring it down safely and intact... in an hour. Interesting to see if they find any Russian subs down there, while they are scouring the ocean floor for the remains of the weather balloon.

What did it cost us to take down a $1500.00 Chinese Balloon , 400K for the missile and 86K per hour for the F22 Raptor that fired it.

I don't know why they shot it down at all, any and all info it had filmed/gathered was already transmitted wherever they wanted it too.
To make it seem like we actually did something. We only look like we’re 75% pussies now.
