Tikka T3 Thread

Anyone else have poorly machined areas like this on their new T3x?

Seems like it should have no mechanical effect on stock fitment but not thrilled to see it on a Tikka.

That looks like Dead Zero Shooting Park. They use the Shot Marker system.
I just checked it, and it's the Shot Marker System.
It says the bullet has to be supersonic when it gets to the target. Not suitable for use with SV and match / target .22 LR...

That looks a fumble mark at the factory and not poor machining / tool marks.
The stock covers that area and as long as it doesn't hold the action out of the stock, I wouldn't give it another thought.
Shoot it, enjoy it and make little groups on paper, impacts on steel or tasty animals ready to butcher.

Anyone here have barrel contour recommendations for a tikka in a whiskey 3 non folder? I want it to balance on a schmedium in front of the mag well.

I’m not adversed to adding rear weight, but building this for mammoth so I don’t want to go too heavy

Do you have a total weight for the rifle with an optic and barrel length in mind ?

Is that a magnum bolt face?
Sure is.

Are the fluted bolts serialized? If so, matches receiver?
Yes they are serialized, but it doesn’t match. I fully expect them to replace the gun with a matching bolt/receiver unless they have the missing 223 on hand.

I’m going to be pretty torqued if they’re just like “oops sorry about that.” Shit is a massive liability that I fortunately found before putting my face or someone else’s in danger.

Put together what I think seemed to be the best bang for buck for a precision rifle, Tikka CTR 6.5CM (20" Bbl) with KRG Bravo.. and I must say she's a shooter! Here's a few examples of what I was able to do with it, photos below. Also, I shot her on steel at 300 yards and the precision there is amazing too. I only shoot factory ammo, the rifle shot 130 Berger OTM's the best. Does anybody have velocity info on 130 Gr. Berger OTM's out of a 20" Tikka, specifically with factory ammo from Federal and Berger box ammo?

Yes they are serialized, but it doesn’t match. ....
That's a Major OOOOPssss.
EU rules require serials on receiver, bolt and barrel. I'm sure numbers were checked before it got the official Finnish stamp. So, most likely it was right when shipped out of Finland.

My thought as well. Barrel and receiver match, so I’m thinking someone got tired of looking for a 223 bolt and swapped it out.

Will be interesting to see if Beretta tries to pin it on Bud’s… Bud’s insists they don’t open rifles from the factory, but if Tikka has documentation proving it was matching at time of export… then?

Either way this one was definitely tampered with. I am fully expecting them to offer a brand new matching numbers rifle be sent directly to me, but even then I’m not sure I will be happy with that resolution.

Sure is.

I probably would’ve blown my face off on that one. Wouldn’t even think to check, and not sure I would’ve noticed if I did. I’m not a magnum shooting guy.

Maybe it got swapped after it left Tikka

Nice! My guess is 2650 FPS for 20” barrel with factory 130 grain Berger OTM ammo.

weight was around 17ish lbs. heavy arca rail, no additional weights, 1" bull barrel (barrel nut).

Bravo, gen 2 razor, benchmark 24in med palma, ckyepod single pull, DA Nomad ti, arc rings I’m right at 15lbs will probably add a spigot rail but this will be a nice nrl hunter rig I think.

I have a Tikka in a Whiskey non-folder with the enclosed forend -- 22" heavy palma barrel in 308 with a Little Bastard brake -- Leupold MK5 5-25 scope

It balances well in front of the mag-well, but is just barely butt heavy

I think a 24" barrel would balance perfectly

I just ordered a t3x lite for hunting and am looking for a Manners or McMillan stock for it. Which one would you guys recommend that wouldn’t be too heavy?
I put my .243 in a McM Edge, Sako Hunter pattern. It has a closed grip, palm swell, higher comb and cheek piece. It fits me like a glove and is very comfortable to get behind. The forend is trim compared to the factory stock, but there’s plenty of meat for a hog saddle to grab right in front of the mag well.

What rings are holding that Nightforce on?
Direct clamp to the dovetail.

Ain’t this some shit? Purchased a brand new Super Varmint 223 through Bud’s. Super stoked to get it. Get to my FFL and this is what I find:

Bunch of freaking mouth breathers.

Just received my Super Varmint 223 from Buds and the bolt is correct with matching serial numbers. Keep us posted on your findings, I hate that for you.

Nice 8 point ! I don't see a bullet wound, did you use the Tikka as a club and bludgeon him with it ?

- Fluted 18" Bartlein Mod400bb.
- Spuhr SICS.
- LHRSi

Nice. How did you fit the T3X into the TRG stock?
I noticed a T3X in TRG stock on a local-to-me sales site, before. Today, I was at a gun shop and the guy there said that he did it. I think he got a feeling that I was looking for something unusual. He also showed me a Valmet Sniper rifle.
Don't know if there are more than one T3X in TRG stock.

I used a KRG back bone from the Whiskey 3 chassis in let for the tikka T3. The TRG stoc and forend fit straight on as did the TRG trigger.
I remember a long time ago Justin mentioning that the backbone would fit. KRG’s gear has been influenced by the TRG since the beginning. I’m going to try it with a Bravo backbone, guess it should work the same way. Did you need to use the action screws with the little metal bar from the TRG to attach the buttstock?

Yes, the buttstock fits exactly as it does on the TRG. The only thing missing is the magazine tension block inside the magwell. There is a little slop on the sides of the magwell because the AICS magazines are thinner. I suppose if you had a CTR backbone you can run TRG magazines. The CTR magazines won’t work because of the plastic rim. I’ve never had a feeding issue. Even when I ran it as a .308 several years ago.

This LH tikka is for my left eye dominant sons. I snagged a closeout proof 6cm steel lightweight prefit that's going g to get chopped by Kampfeld.

For the stock, I added a DIY kydex cheek piece, chopped 1 1/8" off the stock and just rough installed a KRG Bravo polymer adjustable butt, ground to closely match the tikka stock. I can't fully blend it as I'll grind through the polymer ribs. I have a microcell recoil pad on the way, so the factory pad is simply a place- holder. When complete, the LOP will be 1/2" shorter than factory. I'll also be adding a vertical grip.

For those interested, as it sits the stock is 31.5 ounces. It will be closer to 29 once the microcell is on.
