Well the big issue with 5th gen is we don’t put them on the front lines. Not to mention a plane like the f22 which is pure air superiority is unused because well we destroy anyone’s Air Force before we even go in. The stealth tech is great and is an awesome deterrent but we will always need lower tech but highly capable aircraft. Hence why we still use F16s and F15s and A10s (no stealth fighter can remain stealth when doing strafing runs and getting hit with AA and small arms and such) But when it comes to the navy, I see the move to a smaller fighter smart because we can put more on 1 boat. The super is a great platform. It’ll be around for years to come even after production is done but the reliance can’t solely be on the F35.
