Suppressors Dead Air Suppressor Quality

You guys that have direct-thread Nomads, any issues with them coming loose after 10,15,20 rounds? That would be my biggest concern with going DT.
There is always a chance of it loosening. Keep the threads clean.

Alternative is to use a mount system. I personally use an Area419 system because it's self tightening after every shot (for RH twist barrels).

Just sprung my Nomad LT-Ti from jail a few weeks ago. It’s light as a feather, but dayum it’s humongous — especially with the KeyMo mount attached. Bigger than my TBAC Ultra-9’s. Quite a bit of volume in there.

But it’s a nice piece of kit. Still prefer the Dominus-SR though.

Another question ;) Do you guys notice any significant POI shifts when removing the Nomad-L. I know TBAC is renowned for minimal POI shifts, but how does Nomad-L compare?

It definitely feels very long (phrasing), and I’m waiting on a Nomad-T for my hunting rifles. In my opinion the E-Brake does make a noticeable difference in sound also.

I had about 1/2” POI shift at 100 yards which I adjusted for and it hasn’t moved, even with taking the suppressor off and on multiple times.

Dead air outsourced most of their machining back in the day to kgm. That is no longer the case I believe buy with confidence.

Todd is on here occasionally and will help you get whatever fixed should the situation arise
they still do I think. my Dead Air Primal from last year is a KGM

They just got a large FED contract. Basically have 30 days to redeem or pay for any existing orders.

(Don't quote me but that's the Intel)
if I had to guess, probably the ones for the Spear program since while sig has suppressor manufacturing capabilities, because it's a mil contract they have to follow the usual defense contract part rules

There is. At least two days ago. I called and they had cans left. Prices were great but my local FFL wants $150 for an NFA transfer which puts it at the same cost as other, "better" cans that I've been looking at.

$150 for a transfer seems high. I found a local dealer that will do it for $75. Which seems fair, considering the can needs to rent space in their safe for a year.

Me and the boys at work ordered 23 KGM's. Prices were just too good to pass up. Hopefully they will hold up decent...fingers crossed

I ordered 5 and my buddy ordered 3. Showed my local FFL the deal and they may have ordered some as well.
Hope they cut me some slack on transfers though

It's definitely high! The one bonus is I'd be able to shoot it (they're a range) there until I get my tax stamp which is why I'd do it there. But ultimately I'm looking at a shorter, lighter can that produces better numbers for the same cost. I'll just have to wait 270+ days to get it.

My FFL charged $100. But I didn’t pay tax on the can so if you look at like that it pretty much covers the FFL fee.

No issues at all with my Dead Air Wolfman, absolutely love it. On my local dealers list for their Mojave9 when they get em in as well.

I ordered a R30 by emailing Beau from his contact info on their website. Great deal! No sales tax.

However, My FFL/SOT charges $100.
I am a little confused about the NFA stamp. I have my Trust registered with Silencer Shop. My FFL/SOT is a "Powered by Elite" dealer.
Will my FFL/SOT manage the NFA stamp and form 4 when they get the can from KGM?
Does anyone know if I can still use my Silencer Shop registration, or will I have to repeat the photos/fingerprints with my FFL/SOT?

UPDATE:

As I was writing this, I realized that I should just call my FFL. They said when the suppressor comes in with the serial number, they will let me know.
Then everything can be handled through my previous registration with Silencer Shop and my ATF eForms account.

Hope that helps someone.

KGM still has some inventory, but they are out of R30K's and R65's

I had a Dead Air that needed some fixing. The good news is the got me squared right away. Yes it was a hassle. (espeically for my first time). That being said, I got a second one, it was flawless. The one with the initial problem went through a frank class and rides every rifle I have a QD mount for (and that's a lot). (Sandman-S) I have a Wolfman or something for handguns.

My takeaway is they are good cans, and IF you have a problem they won't leave you hanging.

I do not need to order another suppressor
I do not need to order another suppressor
I do not need to order another suppressor

But the deal is too good! I’ve already got 4 or 5 ordered from Beau… 🤔

Once again, Sniper's Hide costs me money. Purchased an R556 and now am thinking I need an R22 as well, if any are still available. I've got a very nice .22 pistol with a threaded barrel. Putting an R22 on the end of it would be the tits. Of course the problem is not so much the cost of the suppressor, but transfer fees, ATF tax stamp, paperwork, wait, etc. Annoying because, IMHO, these things shouldn't be regulated at all.

Honestly, the world would be a much better place if they would just put me in charge. :D

Did you cave? I did, for the 5th time. Said screw it and ordered another R30 (all he had as of a few days ago were R30 and R30T) Already had an R30T ordered lol

I hate money

Yes. I think it was $200. So the transfer fees and ATF tax will end up being more than the suppressor. I'll admit I was tempted to get an R30 or R30T as well. (Still can't figure out the difference between the two). But I REALLY don't need another 30 cal. can. If I hadn't just bought a DA Sierra 5 before I became aware that KGM was blowing these out I probably would have gone for it.

From what I can tell, the R30T looks to have a QD type mount with it. I assume its like their R556 mount. But you can buy their direct thread mounts and swap it. I believe their cans use the industry standard and would allow you to swap the mounting system to any brands for the most part

I was going to buy an R6 but then he told me only 30 cal cans left. And sitting at work thinking about it for about 2 hours it got the better of me and I told him to block my email after the last invoice

I have 3 DeadAir cans. Run them on 223 up to 300wm. Have had zero issues with them. Perform as good if not better than my direct thread TBAC cans

Big fan of DA myself. I have a Sandman S that I've been swapping between a couple of different rifles, (love the Keymo mounts) and a Nomad TI that mostly goes on a couple of bolt guns. Also, a LaRue Tranquilo that was my first suppressor. Doesn't have much blowback. But the price was right and I already had two LaRue's with Tranquilo muzzle brakes, so it made sense for me, but I don't know that I'd recommend the can to someone just getting started. It's an absolute pig and makes the Sandman S seem lightweight.

Just bought a Sierra 5 for use on multiple AR's when KGM stuff went on sale, so now I'm going to have another 5.56 can and one for a .22 pistol.

I'm considering getting only my second can for use strictly on bolt action rifles and am considering the Nomad-L from Dead Air. Looking for the most sound suppression and weight is not a concern. Looking to keep it under $1K plus the stamp. That leaves TBAC out before anyone mentions it. In doing some research, I've come across posts about Dead Air's QC being hit or miss. I've seen posts complaining about bad welds, threads that are not concentric with suppressor bore, suppressors that came apart after the first shot, etc. Were these isolated events? In the past? Anyone had issues with Dead Air suppressors recently? I understand they have a good warranty, but the last thing I want to do is mess around after waiting a year for permission to own it. The Nomad-L looks like the ideal suppressor for my needs, if the quality is there.
Lame post!!

When did you order yours I bought my on 2/13 and my brother on 2/12 neither one of us have received ours yet.

2 -13th
1 - 15th
1 - 27th

They may just wait to do all at once. I wouldn’t blame them.

I ordered the last R6.5 HansohnBrothers had, that’s already in

Did yours from KGM include their case or no?

Ordered first one on 2/13. Second on 2/27. End of February received an e-mail from KGM saying they were running about 30 days behind. Assuming their going to do both of mine together, so it looks like I've probably got another 2-3 weeks. You're probably in the same boat southernpew.

You should get an updated invoice with shipping information when it ships.

I thought as much. No worries
They’ll get here when they get here. Can’t complain about the price or service. Beau was super easy to deal with and even answered some questions for me

Thanks!

Me to. Just got tracking number for the first can I ordered. Hoping the second one isn't far behind.

I have a Sandman K for gas gun and a Nomad-Ti for bolt gun and they are both worth the money. That Nomad-Ti is so light and extremely quiet that it still surprises me and everyone I shoot with.

I sent my Mask HD back to KGM for refinishing, and it arrived to them on 3/9... Dead Air said it should be a 1-2 day turn-around. Haven't heard back from anyone yet. Not really happy. Granted, this time-frame is a KGMade issue, and not a Dead Air issue, but I'll be messaging them again tomorrow to see if I can get an answer for ETA for getting my damn can back. 🤦🏼
