Traded into a new S&W 610 10mm revolver, 6.5” barrel. Anyone here use one of these? I reload for 10mm, so anxious to try some Blue Dot loads in it.

Kind of a bridge between my 3” compact frame .357 and big Ruger 45 Colt cannons. Already have G20L and G29 to complement to 10mm.

Exciting to see these come back in production I say…

I don’t have one. But I have been looking for a 310 night guard that is discontinued. If you find them they are priced crazy.

Bluedot should work just fine in it. It what I use in all my 10mm loadings.

I have a 5 inch 610. One of my favorite revos.

I am not a fan of Blue Dot. You can go from no pressure to high pressure in only a couple tenths. Longshot, CFE pistol and Vhit 3N38 or N350 have given me the best accuracy/velocity.

When case extraction gets sticky, stop. I have seen a couple guys mess up trying to turn their 10 into a 41 Mag.

I have a 4” 610-2. I bought it about five years ago for $400. I replaced the original rubber grips with the Hogue grips pictured. I usually carry it when I’m hunting. I don’t hand load for it yet, but I plan on it. It’s one of my favorite revolvers.

Edited to add: I use polymer moon clips from https://www.ezmoonclip.com/page_7.htm. They don’t require tools to load, and have worked well for me.

Nice!

Good info guys. I need to try some different load recipes. BD is all I’ve done so far…. I also stock Power Pistol, but the manual velocities don’t look very attractive so I never tried it.

Got a Hogue grip and fiber optic front sight coming for it as well.

Have a 6" 610 I bought used probably 15 years ago. Don't reload, so I can't help you there. But it's an awesome pistol. I think mine had some trigger work done by the original owner because when shooting single action the trigger breaks at about 2.5 pounds.

Between the long sight radius and the inherent accuracy of the gun, it shoots lights out, particularly with the relatively flat shooting 10mm. Because these N frame S&W's are pretty heavy, recoil is very manageable. And you can also shoot 40S&W for an even softer recoiling pistol. Plus moon clips make for fast reloads.

I use Longshot for my full power 10mm loadings. It will also fire 40 s&w
I recall discussions where people said they needed different moonclips for 40 S&W vs. 10mm, at least in some 10mm revolvers.

You might be able to find a short barrel on ebay or at Numrich. Swapping barrels on Smith revos is pretty easy unless it is a 2 piece barrel.

I try to put Bowen sights on all my Revos. They are really good compared to the OEM rear sight.

You guys are going to force me into buying one. Is there anyone who will shorten a barrel on one? That’s why I’m looking at the night guard. But like I said it’s discontinued . I think it’s a two and a half in barrel.
I wish the NightGuard series was still available. They were a fantastic combination of features.

I’ll take a look

I have a 6", Awesome, very accurate, I shoot .40 and 10mm through it, same clips, minimal recoil with .40.

I had an old 5-inch 610 years ago. 10mm fanatic. Was shooting revolvers in competition. Made sense to have a 610. Neat gun but not that great of a gun for competition (25 and 625 are much better for me). So, it just sat in the safe for many years. There was probably something I thought I wanted more. Eventually went down the road. Not one I've ever regreted selling; not loosing any sleep over it being gone.

I shot my new one and was quite impressed at the accuracy at 30 yards.
Really like this piece. It embarrasses my G20 Longslide in the accuracy department that’s for sure.

I put VZ grips, Hi Viz fiber optic front sight and an EGW fixed rear sight.

It’s dead nuts at 30, but I need to stretch it out, it it doesn’t hold well at 50, I’ll probably go to a Bowen rear or another SW rear (my factory blade was crooked).
