Last year I picked up a MDT Ckyepod, a gen 2 PRS. Initially, I was just impressed with how versatile it was, but began noticing a few flaws. This winter I have been searching for either an alternative or a remedy.

The main quirk that bothered me was, the leg extension was very loose and the legs would extend on transitions leaving you fiddling when you move to the next position. The same could be said for most of the other adjustments, the leg angle stops would click into other positions when moving or if you accidentally hit it. This resulted in a good amount of frustration, rushed shots, and timing out.

The solution

I tried out a few different bipods before upgrading the ckyepod, but didn’t find the other options decent enough replacements.

So, i searched for kits or anyone who sells parts for the ckyepod but didn’t have much luck finding anyone selling something to help tighten up the bipod. What I ended up doing was picking up a few springs from the hardware store, cut them down slightly longer then the springs that were in the bipod, and the springs I picked up were a bit stiffer. In total I swapped out 6 springs, and filed the leg catch lever a bit steeper so it requires more force to slip out of the detent.

All in all, I don’t believe I will experience any of the sloppiness or frustrations I was experiencing. I won’t know for sure until I run it for a while, but it feels much better, and it is pretty simple to back the tension down if need be.

I also picked up the SAP quick adjust lever for tensioning the cant, some rubber atlas feet, and a grayops adapter so I can run a rrs sc-arc QD clamp.

Sorry for making this so long winded, I just hope it helps some of you get the most out of your ckye pods.

Old thread but just thought I'd see how your upgrades have been working over time?

Definitely a vast improvement. I may end up lightening up the spring pressure on the locks for deploying the legs. They require more effort and technique to deploy quickly, but I personally prefer that than it deploying accidentally and being sloppy.
