A cowboy in the parking lot heard the commotion, happened to have his horse in a trailer behind his truck, got his horse out and saddled up. According to the first article, "he saddled up" implying he had to put blanket, saddle, and reins, on the animal then chase him down. That would take too much time so 308P was techincally correct.

Also I wonder about running steel shoes on pavement. I've seen that leadd to disaster. Maybe the horse was rubber shoed for parades or something.

I’ve seen a cowboy saddle and cinch his horse and his saddle in about 15 seconds. It’s not like he has to adjust anything. His horse and tack is the key.

It was. I lived not far from there. Lots of horses already tacked up and ready to ride, very common. The cowboy, just opened the door, back the animal out, and jumped on. The perp never got out of the parking lot.

I'm not going to get into a big debate about horsemanship. Is it possible to toss a saddle and girth it in 15 seconds? Yep. Are there several other things a horseman should tack-wise that take more time? Yep.

We load the horses in the trailer, with their saddle on, all the time when coming from the pasture to the barn. Pasture on southside of town and horse barn on the northside. About 40 miles apart. I can see it happening pretty easy. Open the trailer, get on the horse, rope suspect. The only problem I see is that the suspect was not hog tied, I do think dragging the suspect over several concrete parking lot dividers would have gotten some extra style points.

Side note:
I live about 100 miles south of Portland and I'm not about nukes of any kind....I've been saying for years that California is known in the state of California to cause cancer. There has to be something environmental causing it...if we could identify blood markers that all Californians have that they have absorbed from prolonged (10+ years) exposure to living there; we could start a kick starter to design a non-transmittable virus with 100% mortality rate that attacks people with those markers and air drop it across the world. Make one for the trash in New York City and viola!! America's problems are mostly solved.

I was in Oregon in '17, and it was a beautiful state, we really enjoyed it. We did however stay out of the big cities, we stayed in a hotel one night in one of the smaller towns along the PCH. Had a grocery store and laundry right next to it so we could resupply food/water, wash clothes, shower up, and I had enough room to reorganize the camping gear and do some repairs. Looking forward to being able to make it back up that way in the future, but of course i'll be avoiding the wasteland shithole of POrtland.
