e file picture of the stamp but the box is not checked

What "efile picture"?

When your FFL submits your Form 1/Form 4 (eFile) you will receive "eForms Application Submission Notification" email from [email protected]. This email contains your control number 2032XXXXXX

It will contain a PDF file of your submission and will say in black letters like a watermark across it "SUBMITTED"
This is the only thing you receive until you get an approved email or disapproved email from the same account.

This is why I am asking you what picture of the stamp? You won't get a physical stamp unless you paper file. And you won't get a digital stamp unless you're approved (which they will email you)

I don't understand your problem?

There is an approved/ denied box on the form. Sounds like the AFT didn't check the box and maybe the dealer wont release it. Thats kinda bullshit. It came back approved and has a stamp, give me my shit and you hash it out with AFT if you care.

Unfortunately, they can’t release an item with an improperly filled out form- even if it is ‘approved.’ I had a form come back where the reviewer wrote the serial number incorrectly on the stamp. The dealer didn’t notice it until after I took the thing home. A few days later I got a call asking that I bring the form and item back in so they could get the form corrected. It took about a week to turn it around.

I know. I know. I had the thing. Why take it back in? Well, the form is invalid if incorrectly filled out. I prefer not to be in possession of a contraband NFA item. And, the dealer needs to correct their books as well. They released a contraband NFA item. And, a week or so after a 9 month wait is pretty small potatoes…

Gotcha. I was just thinking a little mistake like that from AFT is as easy as for them as click the box and re send the approval form and be done with it.

Got my Nomad LT yesterday… 9 months, 5 days (280 days).

We’ll close to two months for them to just click the box.

Just got email from ATF today.

Approved today 3/14/23

I called the FFL and they said they don't release it until it's updated in SilencerShop(still Pending on there). Does anyone know about how long this takes?

Wow. The only 2 I have ever done through SilencerShop, as soon as I got the email that it was approved I went to my FFL and showed them that it was approved (Im sure they checked as well). Took them home that day

Did you print it or just show it from your phone? Reason I ask is I have to wait on a new phone since mine got hacked(not turning on data; they've already tried to steal just shy of $11k from me through Amazon/Google).

How long they going to be stuck on June 10-15 it’s been a week and seems like Reddit and here have all been saying they got approved between these dates like wtf did half the country apply for a silencer 3.5 weeks before me?

They blew by those dates. There were three approved today from the Reddit thread submissions of 7/12, 8/3 and 12/02/22 (see attached). The 12/2 submission approval time 103 days. No dealer closing or special circumstances such as MIL PCS orders on any of them.

All three approvals were different people, but all were from Kansas...

I’ve got two pending from 6-27-22 and 7-10-22 with no word yet

I wonder if, now that they’re in the swing of things, the faster examiners are starting to open up a gap between themselves and the slower ones? Might explain how they go from June to August to December.

One of the other things I noticed about three posted today from Kansas is the examiner signature isn’t clear to read, so maybe the same examiner?

I spoke to someone at Silencer Shop high up in the company last year and he said to me that he saw with his own eyes that in DC that all of the paper forms are loaded in trailers near ATF and guarded by the FBI, that is to say that paper forms going back to 1934 are in trailers. If that is really true it leaves me speechless. Google “legacy IRS systems” and I remember reading from that an article from NYT I think that the IRS is not even sure how many of their ancient legacy systems are still in use.

ATF has been around since 1972 and I wouldn’t be surprised that they use legacy systems too.

I mention all of this to say, no matter how much I or anyone else ponders how the ATF approves this stuff, there is always a curve ball like the 20 cans they approved last week to one person with the shortest pending of 12 days; to the three from KS above that were approved months ahead of others and out of sequence.

ATF processes are woefully broken.

You can tell which ones are actual doing their jobs, and which ones are fucking-off most of the day…But are tenured and basically un-fireable at this point. Welcome to bureaucracy and the government labor force. 🤦🏼

My next one is my OCL Hydrogen-L 7.62 with an 8/19 cert date, so we’ll see how quickly they get that one approved. I’m hoping they will do a batch approval of all my pending cans, which would be amazing, but I’m not holding my breath… 😂

How long until the efile system is like a pay to win game? “Tired of waiting 9+ months on your Standard (TM) Tax Stamp? For a limited time spend just $99.99 and get the Heroes of Waco Lootbox (TM), which has a 1 in 420 chance of getting your stamp approved TODAY!”

It’s not that simple. If you watch the NFA subreddit, you will see two examiners (Rachel Ballard & Jessica Mason) who consistently bring the most recent submission date approvals forward, so that sounds like it supports your position that they’re ”actually doing their jobs,” better than the rest. However, digging deeper, a couple of weeks ago while most approvals were coming in from late May submissions, out of no where, Mason and Ballard push the date range forward with a couple mid-June approvals and then guess what happens in the same day? Those exact two examiners move backwards to early June or late May dates that they approve - it’s all over the place, for even those two examiners! Ballard was the examiner that approved “20 can man” last week and remember the shortest approval for those 20 cans was 12 days. Watch and see now those two are back in the average with the rest of the examiners.

There is some wacky stuff going on before it gets to the examiners, if we could actually see the process of what is happening it would really help. Clearly, clearly they are not processed in the order received.

Look at what I attached below from the Reddit user “tickletheclown” same guy from yesterday that posted above from Kansas, just had two more approved today from submission dates of 7/12 and 11/3/22, the latter approved in 133 days. The examiner’s name is illegible on all these Kansas approvals.

20 Can Man I really believe there was some manual push to approve him all at once - that just hasn’t happened before. All we can do is guess. Did a US Senator/Representative from Kansas get sick and tired of having his staff being tasked to write letters to the ATF and did the actual Senator call the ATF directly talk to someone in senior management and grill them to get his constituents approved or he was going to call for hearings? Or is it as simple as how they coded the eform system was done so poorly that it isn’t programmed to process in sequence, in order they were received and so the examiners are given submissions that reflect that cluster fuckery programming? And the speculations could go on and on. It does seem clear that Ballard and Mason do pull the date range forward consistently and that would seem to indicate some sort of purposeful planning.

Make sure and look at the comments in the attachments about the upcoming House hearing requiring the ATF to appear and the comments asking how these Kansas guys are getting approved way ahead of the average.

You’re right for most of them, but for a few outliers (that no one can figure out why) it definitely is.🤣
I think it Esther has to do with how your trust is written or some other factor that we don’t know because every time I’ve filed (paper) I’ve always gotten it back in a fairly decent amount of time. Even when it’s typical 9-10 months wait mine have seems to come back in 4 months. But I’m not complaining. Hahahah. I have t done the E-File yet but will probably run a couple here in a month or so and stock up on some more entries into the government registry.

Glad I'm not the only one, haha. I'm not entirely clear what it's saying, but it makes me think maybe some dealers were signing on behalf of their customers, rather than the purchaser signing the form 4 themselves? Anyways, I was terrified my dealer had done something wrong on my application when I saw it, but sounds like it was a general email that went out.
