Winchester M70

Delta,
Wow! Looking at the top rifle, from "No Country for Old Men" many people had wondered whether or not it was a real thing to have a heavy barreled .270. Do you know any of the details of that top rifle?
The rifle was made in 1947, my dad purchased it at an estate auction so I have no idea of its history. I tried to find out who might have made the stock, but had no luck. I took it out of the stock once to see if I could find any kind of a makers mark, but there is nothing. The rifle fits soooo tight I didn't think I'd get it back in the stock!! If anyone can provide me with any info I'd appreciate it! I'm right handed and have been tempted to change out the stock and the optic, but I've always decided to leave it alone.

Serious question;

With LR shooting and hunting the rage, why is Winchester/FN dragging their feet and not bringing back the SPR line in 6.5 or 6mm? In sure some of us would buy one if they came out.

Current Winchester offerings are out there in hunting lines 6.5cm 6.5prc, just not in a heavy barrel offering.

When I got it many years ago it was a Palma gun, built by Larry Racine. I got it in an estate sale. It wasn't at that time able to shoot up to the former owners High Master ability, but it still could shoot good enough for Expert scores. I don't shoot it XTC anymore, hell I hardly shoot at all since I started coaching my Confederate Grandson. I rebarreled it to 6.5 Creedmoor. I might just scope it and try some midrange. With the kid shooting my mouse gun I just shoot the M1-A until...

Because the people at Winchester are fucking morons and it’s astounding they are owned by the same company as Browning because Browning releases tons of new X-Bolt models every year.

Lol. It’s so damn sad but true.

I wouldn’t own an Xbolt. They seem overpriced for what you can get from other companies

I think I actually got better accuracy with my irons before I mounted the Unertl.

Granted it was only 100 yards to sight the irons in and it was an exceptional box of Creedmoor 167 Lapua that none has so far been able to match but I was stacking bullets with the irons.

Shot irons today on the M1A and I really need to get some glasses to sharpen my FSP. Still shot good but the fluffy front sight bothers me.

Still here.
I only have a few scopes left. I think my parts are all gone. Will check this week if it rains and I’m house bound.

Not surprised if not hearing from Aaron.

Seemed he had some health issues.

He said he had drums of screws and parts.

I needed a spring stop ring from him to create the two ring look of a USMC scope….he had them.
