I have been having issues finding load data for N-540 specifically for Hornady 178/180gr bullets. SST / SP / HPBT / ELD-X
Any data on these would be appreciated.

Alright so I have tested N-540 with Hornady ELD-X 178gr and the SST 180gr.
42grs to 44.6gr just started to see extractor marks at 44.6gr load barely so there is still room to go up if one was interested.

Test gun is 20 inch Bergara HMR B-14
OAL 2.800 the SST was slightly shorter to the Cann.
42gr average velocity’s SST
2570
42.5 — 2615
43 — 2685
43.5 — 2695
44 — 2690 ( not sure how that happened. Using a cheap Caldwell chrono unfortunately. Also errored couple shots)
44.6 — 2733

ELD-X 178gr
42 —2573
42.5 — 2629
43 — 2645
43.5 — 2694
44 — 2695
44.6 — 2720 ( slight pressure signs extractor markings)

Overall the groups where very nice around one inch probably could do better with a better marksman :)
I hope this info helps someone else as load data was hard for me to find for this bullet powder combo. The best accuracy I got 43gr for the SST. All holes touching.
I would work your load up with your gun of course. And use my data as more of a loose guide line.

Just restocked N540 looking forward to using some data points . (y)
I generally run 4895 ,4064 but as prices are hopefully at a plateau cost is negligible now .

If memory serves ,I believe N140 is a single base medium burn and was noted for accuracy rather than velocity .

N500 series in double based Nitro driven and should provide more power and burn cleaner . At least that's the gist of the sell .

I can honestly say VV seems to be cleaner burning and for Me likes to group . Bottom line it takes calipers to measure differences between IMR 4064 and VV whatever powder I use ,in any of MY Gas guns . Noted exception 5.56X45mm .
