Around 2pm today, taking off from Burlington Airport (vt) was what looked like a twin Beechcraft. Small prop job.

White paint, Did not see any markings… though also wasn’t looking.

But hanging out the back was a 10-15 foot or so probe. Coming off the tail. If I were to guess, I’d say about 6” diameter.

It looked a lot like the Magnetic anomaly detectors that one sees on the back of P3 Orions. But on a very small plane.

Any ideas?

Any chance it was a plane equipped for using LiDAR for mapping? I’ve got a buddy that works for a company does this, but have no idea about the equipment…
