Schmidt has the weight listed as 33.16 oz for standard turrets and 35.1 oz for DT II+
Finally the snow melted enough for us to use the range.

I like it, the parallax does not interfere with the Illuminationknob, atleast I did not once notice this as an issue. The Parallax is firm but not too firm, like on a few other scopes I have used.
Since I always wanted a Schmidt&Bender I decided to jump on the hype train and today my 6-36 arrived, with the DTII+Turrets and the Grid reticle.
I just got to play with it so here are my thoughts on first glance:
- Fit & Finish is excellent
- The magnification and diopter rings have just the right amount tension to them
- The parallax adjustment is a tad tighter than I would have wished, escpecially with the smaller turret due to the combined illumination. But it is fine to work with.
- The clicks on the elevation turret are nice and tactile and feel pretty much like my ZP5 but more audible.
- The clicks on the windage turret are also like my ZP5 (sadly) and they feel a little less tacticle and are less audible compared to the elevation. The Zero Click also makes it harder to adjust just one click from the zero position. But the windage turret will be locked most of the time after zeroing anyway.
- The locking mechanism for the elevation turret works fine and thankfully the MTC can be deactivated, since I am not a fan of that. The only annoyance is that when you switch to regular clicks (without MTC) the locking lever sits right above the parallax wheel which means you can bump into it when you you have to make bigger parallax adjustments.
-Optical quality is superb as far as I could test it, as expected the eyebox gets tight toward the 36x magnification and you will see some chromatic aberration when you are not perfectible centered in the eyebox. This probably wont be a problem once it is mounted and with a well adjusted head postion. But the detail you can pick up with it is amazing from the short time I got to play with it.
The Grid Reticle makes it noticable that the picture is "pillow" shaped, so you will see the reticle bend, starting at the lower third of the picture. I'll have to see how and if that is a problem/annoying when using it.
All in all I am happy with it so far, and can't wait to test it one the range.

Well fitted the newly repaired 6-36 to the HTI 50 Bmg. Quick sight on...as per usual the HTI 50 produced a 3 shot ragged hole.
Then out to 2500 yds..
Gorgeous day to day......Both Desert Tech HTI,s ,each topped with the Schmidt 6-36,s performed superbly..
Only limitation in the equation was "us"...
We had some hits AND misses..
The sheer clarity of these optics is very very impressive....turning out to be one of the best optics I have ever owned...
Then out to 2500 yds..

Interesting that the DTII+ turret model with the Grid reticle is priced $1000 more than the ZCO 8-40.
However, the 6-36 S&B with either the DT27 or DT35 turrets is priced within $400-500 of the ZCO.
It will be cool to (eventually) see comparos with the Razor 6-36, NF 7-35, TT, and other similar scopes.
Now that Eurooptic isn’t the exclusive distributor in the US, who else carries S&B?

Not 100% sure who carries them in stock like EO but MOUNTIC and Camera Land can order them for you.
From personal use and ownership , my opinion is the S&B 6-36 is a far far better optic than the ZCO 8-40!!
eurooptic knocks off 10% from the price if you message them.
I bet dealers will be cautious dealing with Schmidt this time around as essentially a competitor was the sole distributor in recent history.
Yup several have told me straight up they will order it but they will not stock SB after getting screwed over last time

curious if anyone else has this yet and whether the glass is really better than the ZCO. I am about to get one for my first bolt action rifle in 65 CM and I am waiting for the verdict before pulling the trigger LOL. I just spoke to a rep from EO and he said the glass was supposed to be better than other PM II models and he’s pretty sure it would beat the ZCO but he is not 100% sure since they don’t carry ZCO.

I’m a big fan of the DTII+ turrets. New illum/parallax is interesting.
The parallax indicator is moved off of the tube, but still in the 45 degree position vs the old 90 degree “I can’t see it” position

what does that illumination control knob do when carrying the rifle slung. it seems to really stick out there, at least on stand alone photos. next to that 5-25 it doesnt look quite as wide of center, - just a little wider. ive wondered if its gonna dig into the carriers back / side / belt / hang up in packs etc

New reticle is pretty nice, similar to MP3X but different, so not a big change there.
At 36x really fills the FOV
Illumination pattern is Xmas tree style.
Put it in a tripod to finally get behind it mounted, loopholed through the garage top windows to spot some trees at 250m and 600m. Eyebox seems a little more forgiving than the 3-20x US & 5-20x, so they may have done some improvements. Clarity is typical S&B. Will shoot it this weekend and have an ELR trip coming up to really put it through its paces. Overall it feels at least as good as my ZCO 5-27x.

Have gotten more time behind this scope the last couple of weeks, I like it alot!

Got price for a scope identical to the one Dogtown has pictured above as an addition, but prices had increased more than 20% since my last purchase so no deal.
Also got to test the 5-45 at an ELR match at what must be one of the most spectacular venues out there, the scale of that place is insane! Targets from 840-2180m.

What were your impressions of the 5-45x? I spent some time with one a couple years ago and I kind of struggled with it, but that could have just been the way it was mounted. Just couldn’t get comfortable behind it and it had a significantly higher price tag than the ZCO 5-27x. The main reason I got this 6-36x, besides just to compare it with the ZCO and Vortex 6-36x, is that it wasn’t exorbitantly expensive like the 5-45x.
Who manufactures the leveling system on the ZCO?
