I'm sure if I was doing of thirst if make sure to place the camera at the proper angle to capture drinking from the creek before I started drinking too...

Yeah it seems pretty shady. Too many things worked out way to well, managed to land near the crash site, ( which I've never sky dived) so I don't know how achievable that would be without planning and trying to. There were a couple of sizeable open valleys that I would tried to get closer to. He appeared to have pretty good elevation, seemed like enough time to call in the mayday before bailing.

Fuck this guy. Way to destroy a classic aircraft that doesn’t have very many copies left, all for the purpose of creating his bullshit “content”. I hope he chokes on 1,000 dicks.

Disorderly conduct is a class 4 felony?
Who knew...

I watched this again. Sad, second of the youtubers looking for 15 minutes have destroyed a Taylorcraft. If there is any justice, he will never be allowed to fly a plane again. Permanent revocation of his pilot's license - no appeal. No respect for any history, no respect for potential damage/death on ground, and pure wanton reckless behavior in 3-dimensions. Pure narcissist.

Also, why is the door ajar before the engine even fails? Or was that part of the gig to spread ashes? 100% this was intentional. As mentioned...how the hell is there video of the plane from ABOVE?

The FAA / NTSB wheels are turning, I bet there going going make an example of him, which they should for pulling this stunt. Shame to waste a gem of a plane like that.

Initially the comment section on his video went crazy. With people posting the same types of things as on here. Now I see his comments are turned off. Hopefully it is investigated, seems awfully staged.

It crashed and he did not try to restart or maintain control. It appears that he abandoned it for the youtube views aka staged it. I think it was the previous owners post that I read on a facebook page where he was pissed that this dumbass wrecked the plane he sold him for youtube likes/views.

Trent is sharp, no drama bull shit. Someone sent me a link to his video this morning also. Especially of so many planes to have to dead stick land a Taylor would be one of them. Especially since it appeared that he had a huge amount of elevation ( well enough to make a safe jump.....). I don't know crap about sky diving but what's super safe ? 5000' 3000' ?

This guy has great backcountry flying content on his channel... his objective take on this exercise of stupidity is done in good taste.

Yeah I watched that as well. He gave a very informative view on what happened and what should happened. I think it was staged.

Maybe a little too well filmed.

If it wasn’t for the oil spray on the wing strut I’d for sure say staged.

Also flying with a sport rig I would be VERY uncomfortable

Amazing those camera don’t skip a beat even while crashing

STAGED!!! BTW I don’t understand the fascination of filming yourself

Trent Palmer just posted another video commenting about this staged crash:

Getting past the nonsense surrounding the crash, it's worth a look just for the cool flying Trent does here.

It’s a special rig for sailplanes. The parachute in some higher performance gliders is in lieu of a seat cushion, so you save weight and get a form fitting chute-cushion that comfortable for hours.

Yeah, that’s a aerobatic/emergency rig

Wore one for years, as someone who also jumps and can fly a ram air, ours were repacked with ram air reserves, sucks if you ACTUALLY had to bail only to get yourself hurt trying to land or navigate a cumbersome round.

Looks like the FAA agrees that this was intentional and has revoked his private pilot certificate.
Unfortunately the revocation only last for one year so he will probably fly again.

The lesson here is rig the wings to fall off before bailing out. Can't argue you should have landed to safety or used the radio.

Just read the dude got his private pilots’s license revoked by the FAA. Which in reality isn’t really a big thing to a dude like that. In cases where the individual doesn’t have a license or the feds feel a stiffer penalty is warranted, they’ll issue fines as well. The feds think slapping $1500 per offense is going to hurt someone who can afford an aviation hobby. Think precision rifles are expensive? They ain’t shit. Some advice I got when starting out flying was: if it floats, flys, or fucks; it’s cheaper to rent it.

I doubt he'll ever get insurance, and likely will be blacklisted from renting.

Probably won't worry this POS one bit.

Obviously staged by some moron looking for social media attention I hope they revoke this asshole’s license for life.

“The FAA noted that Jacob did not attempt to restart the engine, contact air traffic controllers about the problem or look for areas to land safely. The FAA said Jacob then jumped from the plane "while holding a camera attached to a selfie stick."

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

wikipedia has him listed as a former aircraft pilot😄😄😄

Also, he fucked up an old t-bird. Asshole.
Yeah, that really pissed me off. Should have his teeth handed to him. If he wanted to pull an illegal stunt and waste a good aircraft, he could have at least used something other than an irreplaceable vintage aircraft (i.e. any number of homebuilts).

Crash a stupid RV or a skycatcher if you just gotta get those likes.

It all goes back to the way these humans view the world. I use the word human as they are not people, just animals and should be handled as such.

There is nothing in the universe that is more important then they are. The world revolves around them. This "stunt" was something I see as a logical next step and what these idiots do. All I can say it would be no loss if the chute did not open and he hit the ground like his plane.

I can't stand to watch the entire video, it just makes me so damn angry. I have to stop the sec he is out the door.....but I thought it was a cub, is it a taylorcraft?

Assuming the above attached is the correct NTSB report, then yes. Taylorcraft.
