Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Because I can never just leave a finished rifle alone.

G3 on the Mausingfield, and the G2 moved down to the Nucleus.

Shot this GAP Surgon 6mm GT today at my 100 yard indoor range. Barrel has about 50 rounds through it now. Need to work up a load for it, as my basic load of 107 SMK and 35 grains of H4350 isn't doing it justice. Shot 4 groups of 5 and all of them are around half inch.

Took the old 2002 Remington 700 Sendero SF 7mm STW out to the range today to give her some fresh air, since it's been a while since I heated up the bore... She did not disappoint. This rifle has always been a damn tack driver. This is one I'll never let go.

Ignore the blacked-out spot, someone shot my target before I could snap of pic of the group...

UP-10 (1).jpg
After 6 months of waiting, I finally made the opportunity to go to my local range and put some rounds through the barrel of my new UP-10.

Distance: 100 yards
Wind velocity: Not significant
Ammunition: Federal Premium Sierra MatchKing 308 Win, 175 grain (Velocity - 2427 fps@100 yds)

After 20 rounds downrange, this is the result:

Not the greatest of pictures, because it was taken through a spotting scope back behind the firing line. But I think it shows that the rifle shoots fairly well, in spite of the many mistakes I may have made during the session.

Took my first home “build” out (first time I’ve screwed a Prefit into an action) and I’m quite pleased. Quick zero with factory ammo and then put 6 shots on steel at 411 yds with a variable wind with a vertical spread of about 2”, horizontal about 4”. Think it’ll be just fine for NRL Hunter. May even take it actual hunting some.

Recently switched from the .223 Wylde barrel in the photo to a longer .169 freebore .223 barrel for 77 grain Sierra SMK and Berger OTM bullets. Took it out for the first time to zero and shoot some 5 shot groups at 100 yards off a bench. Shot OK with Berger 77 OTMs but not the SMKs.

My Sig Sauer PRS .308
24” stainless barrel 1-10 twist
Maven RS4 / 5-30x56 Scope
Area 419 Hell Fire Muzzle Brake
Accutac Bipod
Aftermarket extended Bolt knob
Folding stock is rock solid
Built in full length Arca Rail
2 stage trigger set to 1.9 lbs

Love it, this pig is really heavy, recoil is minimal, just have to work on the biceps to run with it in matches. I shoot in an unsupervised conservation range out in the boonies so I wear the Colt 45 Commander in a Tanker style chest Holster as a deterrent to ward off any sticky fingers when I am over a 100 yards away from my rifle changing a target.

Take care and stay Safe

She is a 2003 Landrover Defender 130 TD5 engine (5 cyl 2.5 l direct injection.) 5 speed manual & low box. No EGR, no DPF, no ABS, not much electronics. You get spares for every single part of the vehicle. I sprayed the roof Duracoat Tac Black.

Yesterday in the Kerry hills letting some visitors take a few shots with my 308 out to 600m.
I fired two rounds at a rock at 1200m with the new stock on my light weight 6.5 CM 20" barrel, both rounds hit. Wind dialled for 7mph. Furthest I ever shot that rifle.

A couple of FN SPRs that both now sport new 26" barrels in 6.5x47. The A2 wears a Krieger and XTR III, the A1 has a Brux and Bushy DMR II.

Matt Stewart of Stewart Rifles did the chambering.

Both shoot as well as I could ever hope for, and my skills allow.

Nice.
Crying shame FN stopped producing the SPR - they're still a extremely capable, helluva rifle to this day..
