Interesting. Although for their $750 price its hard to not spend another $150 and get a CDG or Origin with an integrated pic rail and a known standard of workmanship
Almost 100% certain it’s a stiller OEM’d TAC 30/predator with some Weatherby branding herbs and spices. Same tenon threads, same hole spacing, same stiller flat on the left side of the receiver, pinned recoil lug, etc.
Not sure wtf the lack of SA mag bf is about.
Can still run AICS/center feed mags with a bdl cut action so that’s not really an issue.
Probably cost-cut with the pic rail and passed it as “catering” to hunting crowd that wants to run direct mount rings, of which there are a bunch for stiller pattern actions.

No offense, but like I said, for an extra $150 a CDG or Origin are hard to beat. I know $150 can seem like a lot, but for a custom build where its already going to be over $2k for an entire rifle, I'd spend the money for one of those at least. Way more feature rich.
Got multiple custom actions and custom rifles - do not need a custom action to shoot a critter at 300 yards. Tikka actions are great too if you get a donor rifle. Competition is good. Options are good.
That's true, but why would you not? A stock will be at least $500, plus a rail, optic, trigger, bottom metal or baseplate, barrel, etc. You're going to be in two grand. Why not at least have the options of the others?

I own one Savage stock rifle, and one Origin that I'm building now. The Origin is fuckin sweet.

I think both rifles are very well executed for their market. It's not a PRS/comp rifle, but both models will make excellent hunting rifles that will more than likely provide a lot of enjoyment at the range for the casual shooter.
The default response around here is "just get a Tikka" get's old. I've owned 3 and still have a T1X. They ARE great rifles, but they are not the only viable selection in their price point.

The most popular short mag right now is the 6.5 PRC, the biggest competitor to their 6.5 RPM. They aren’t going to chamber the competitors cartridge over their own so why bother stocking the action?
I agree here. I think, if someone wants a completed rifle for hunting with some limited long-range capability, then it's spot on. the bare action has me less impressed, but I guess if someone want's to go that route there's nothing wrong with it.
If it won't take prefits I'll buy a tikka instead. Hopefully it does allow prefits.

You shouldn't necessarily prefit a Tikka either. Even though a lot of shops offer it, they vary too much in headspace. Most will fall into an acceptable range, but you have outliers.

Just like to point out, Wyoming is so low in population that 307 is the area code for the whole state. I’m glad Weatherby moved here. Looks great at a value start.
There are quite a few states like that, Montana, Wyo, Nodak, Sodak, all good places to live if you're an outdoorsman.

Have you seen the wait for a manners stock or Bartlien barrel.... I'm just saying if you order it all direct from manufacturer the action will beat the others delivery by months.
