I quit caffeine years ago, never took a liking to coffee, probably why I failed as a SNCO...and got counseled by the unit CMSgt when I was on top of a tower; I had Airmen and NCOs on the ground...it was definitely because I didn't walk around the unit with a coffee mug in my hand.

Yes, but it's seasoned and browned. It has a crust on it that completely changes the taste over throwing raw meat in boiling liquid. There's also all the fat that absorbs the seasoning and gets rendered under high heat that changes the flavor (add this to your pot, DO NOT throw it away). The only faggot who throws raw meat in liquid I know is @Quick1.
Pro Tip: A half cup of peanut butter will take your chilli from great to champion level. You can't actually taste it, but it adds a creaminess and ties all the different chillis together. A cup of coconut milk will also do this, but not as much as PeanutButter.
