SWFA SS fixed scopes discontinued?

Did SWFA kill off their fixed power scopes? They all show as “backordered” and have been for months. SWFA did not respond to my emails about them.

I’d be bummed if they are gone for good.

A well-placed source recently said that SWFA has some new and/or improved scopes in the works. That would help explain the steep discounts they've offered on their current models recently. Let's hope they keep a relatively inexpensive fixed-power scope in the their line-up, hopefully with better reticles and features.

I hope this is accurate info. I’d love an updated 10x from SWFA. Where was this source posting this info?

My recollection is that he offered the information on his subscription website. I get the impression he has a long-standing relationship with the owners of SWFA.

Isn't SWFA defunct as a company? Or is that just their website?

SWFA as we’ve known them is changing. They’re clearing out all the retail stuff and changing to focus purely on their optics lineup per an email or a post I recall reading some time ago. Which adds validity to the claims of an update to their lineup. I, for one, am excited to see what they bring out. I’ve been a big fan and supporter of SWFA optics over the years. Any time I needed an inexpensive option and an SWFA fit the bill, that’s what I’ve gone with until I could upgrade to what my end goal was. They’re solid optics, but 10mil turrets, an updated reticle, and improved glass would bring them up to modern times.

I hope you’re right Basher. As you stated, updated reticles and turrets on Japanese glass. Their current website is essentially selling out all remaining inventory, and most of that is barska grade or worse. Good deals on magpul t-shirts and belts if you need one. Whole website is marked 50% off

So this is all third party info, but it seems to fit with what they’re doing by closing out current inventory. I believe @koshkin has stated elsewhere that he has it on good authority that new optics are in development, but we’ll all just have to wait and see…

Makes sense to me, retail is brutal these days. Especially in the gun world where there is so much competition and the customer base is so well informed when it comes to seeking out the lowest prices.

I hope they bring out a big expansion to their ultralight line. Would love to see a 2-8 in a 30mm tube, and a higher end version of the 2.5-10 in a 30mm tube.

If they made a higher end version of the 2.5-10 in a 30mm tube, with Mil reticle and Mil adjustments, and kept it under $700, I'd buy two so fast that my credit card would catch fire.

If they would just put some basic upgraded features in their scopes, like better turrets, 10 MIL rev turrets, and a zero-stop, it would go a LONG way for sales. The SS is outdated by a long-shot. Now days a ZS, illumination, and 8-10 MIL turrets are standard fare.

I'm not hating on them, as I still have 3 of their scopes sitting around, and they're only collecting dust because I just simply have better modern options available at my disposal, but they're still decent scopes with good Japanese glass for the money. Tough as nails, too.

I just hate the idea of losing durable, high quality Japanese made fixed power scopes that can be had for under $500. The Philippines made scopes are fine but the Japanese just do it better and I refuse to buy anything gun related that’s made in China. I really hope this isn’t the end of the SWFA SS scopes. If so, I hope Primary Arms picks up the fixed power torch and runs with it.

The way I understand it is the SWFA is focusing solely on their line of SS scopes now. They will not be selling anything else. No more good deals on other competitors or brands. No more accessories that do not pertain to their business model. Just their own product. If I'm correct, the quality will remain the same or get better and they will be able to do that one thing really well.

if you can backorder them (you can) I don’t much see how they are discontinued

They sold a shipload (literally lol) of them over the past half year during their nuts sale from December to April.

I’m extremely excited for their transition to solely being a manufacturer, if they keep putting the durability sauce in the new stuff that’s in the old stuff, and update their lines with some nice features then I’ll probably be buying a bunch of them.

I ordered an Ultralight 2.5-10x back in February during the sale, and just got a notification today that my credit card was charged.

Now to play musical chairs with my scopes to see where it fits best...

I have spent a couple of months with one of the upcoming models. It is coming soon. I'll release details as soon as they are ready to go public with the specifics.

Source? I guess Ilya’s comment a few posts above yours is a flat out lie then, huh???
This doesn't offer much insight however.......https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/5840-E-US-Highway-287-Midlothian-TX/27684778/.
As far as my source.......mums the word at this time.

Edit: I would like to say I hope somehow they are able to continue the SS products as several new items were quite nice and fit in the optic world very well.

They’ve already personally said they are stopping shop style sales and moving to being a scope manufacturer. Now Ilya is saying there is a new scope(s) on the horizon.

That tracks just fine with listing your retail shop

Maybe you are correct, but there isn’t much to go on here but “believe me”

For $200 on sale, their 6x42 is one of the best deals on a hunting scope ever. A-tier reliability, excellent reticle for hunting, plenty good glass for hunting, and a washer zero-stop can be added for a few dollars. I expect their new lines to be every bit as reliable. We'll see...

Also, a few ounces more than other "light" scopes.

To be fair, I do not have any insight into how they are doing overall as a company. The only part of it I have exposure to is that they are working on the new riflescope product line and some of it is pretty close to release.

Anyone heard anything lately on the new SWFA offerings? I need replace a Nikon that went TU on a hunting rifle, and I keep thinking an updated SWFA 3-9 with a covered windage, locking elevation and maybe a simple tree reticle would be pretty sweet replacement.

I've been trying to find one of their 3-9 HD scopes for years to put on a lightweight hunting rifle...rare as hens teeth. Wish they could actually keep them in stock.

Years? Just buy 1 or more on their site if out of stock. You'll never wait a year.

Admittedly, I don't check very often, but every time I do they are out of stock. I obviosly haven't backordered either. Seems like I rarely see them come up for sale used, and when they do they sell fast. I guess I should be a little more diligent or just backorder one.

Patiently waiting for some fixed 6x’s I ordered during their July 4th sale. Anyone received any scopes they backordered from them during that time?

Also very curious about their new scope(s) coming out.

All but one of my 6 SWFA scopes were back-ordered. All showed up within a reasonable time (up to a few months).
