ARC Coup de Grace Builds

Still need to dig out a bipod and TMB for the muzzle, but so far not a bad combo. Scope is probably a temp as well. Action is really nice tho! Especially once you get the trigger timed. Will try the Falkor ROC, Matrix Pro, and C4 next so see what feels best with the CDG.

SO update on my Foundation, Hawkins, CDG build. I emailed Hawkins Precision and ARC. Jon from ARC recommended that I take .065 off of the mag latch and that should run ever mag. Hawkins reported they had not heard anything as of yet with the "S" latch being a problem but that they would send me another latch if I messed this one up.

So I got the shade tree gunsmiths best tool out (dremel) and went to work. I first took of .050 and it still would not work correctly. Mags would seat but were hard to get out. The bolt would run just fine. So went ahead and went straight to .065 like recommended and everything is working correctly.

I have on hand magpul, accurate, ARC, MDT mags and they all function fine.

A+ to both companies for their responses and the suggestions.

How's the inlet on the foundation match the CDG? I ordered a centurion directly from Foundation for my archimedes(they said mausingfield inlet would be drop in, and it wasn't) early last year and it fit poorly and shot like shit. Put it into a different chassis and it shot great.

I’d probably get it bedded. My Nuke 2.0 on my Centurion is my most accurate rifle. The original inlet I think was for an impact but I had my smith work his magic.
I wonder much much difference there would be between the Nuke, Arch and the CDG inlet.

That looks WAY better than the setup foundation sent me. I was pretty unhappy with their fitmennt and sold it quite quickly.

Should have sent John-Kyle or Amy a message. This is my third stock from them and everything has been excellent.

The last one I ordered before the CDG I had it in my hands gun built before it was even paid for. I called and was like hey I’m pretty sure I need to pay my bill.

They were on vacation and was pretty much like eh we’ll collect your payment when we get back we trust you. The PRS and shooting community is rather small and if I stuffed them on the bill I wouldn’t be able to shoot any match in north Texas or Oklahoma. Lol.

They are excellent folks.

Oh I did. I was ensured the mausingfield inlet would be archimedes drop in, it wasn't. Several body lines over lapped the action, the bolt inlet wasn't deep enough and couldn't get my bolt closed all the way. I told them to figure out the problem and pre-program their inlet, because this is affecting accuracy. My fuzion shot lights out in an non-bedded centurion(which fit amazingly by the way), so I had high expectations. Regadlss of my prior unsatisfactory experience, I'm glad to see their inlet on the CDG looks great.

Took the .223 AI CDG build out today.

About 5 rounds to get the Gen III razor sighted in and the barrel to stop printing like a shotgun lol.

Then straight to 500, 700, 1000.

The CDG runs great if your not lazy with the bolt but it doesn’t feed as smooth as the .223 Impacts when side by side.

Also the brass is growing about 20 thousandths at about 1/4 up from the case head so where it will not chamber in our impact builds after fired from my CDG. The same reamer was used so that’s kinda weird.

Feeding .223 size cases definitely causes the action to hiccup if you do not run the bolt fast.

Decided I couldn't wait the 3-4 months until the Gen 3 Razor gets here from Liberty Optics July 4th sale, so tossed on my spare S&B 3-20 (which as of 30 minutes ago is no longer new in box) and loaded up some break in loads.

cdg22gt.jpg

28" 22GT, Manners TCS in metallic GAP camo with gloss clearcoat, Bix tacsport 2-stage trigger, ARC mount, S&B 3-20. Going to be primarily used for long range varmint blasting.

While I love the huge FOV of the S&B 3-20 and the full length version has extremely good glass and a very forgiving depth of field, I wanted a thinner reticle and a bit more magnification for this build which is why I picked up the Gen 3 Razor. I'll roll with the S&B 3-20 for now until the Razor Gen 3 gets here, and if the Razor Gen 3 doesn't make me happy I'll probably swap it out for another TT 5-25 or finally break down and pick up a ZCO 5-27 or S&B 6-36, I haven't tried those two yet.

22GT feeds like butter from unmodded AW mags, which is good because with an HRD BR/Dasher spacer kit in the mag the rear spacer is too long for GT length cases and holds them too far forward so the case body rides on rib in the magazine and the bullet tips won't clear the front of the mag.

Hopefully get out and run the 50 lighter break in loads through it this week to settle the barrel, then start on real load development.

Also, I have to say that the SBR'd CDG in the HNT26 (way too many acronyms, sorry) that @evilsvt built a few posts above looks really, really cool.

what contour is that barrel?
Medium Palma... should have gone light Palma. Or really my first choice, a PVA carbon barrel. I was worried about shoulder diameter on the light Palma, and the price of the carbon is high. Once I shoot this barrel out, it will be a carbon.

Got my PRS rig up and running. I have switched from Terminus Zeus quick change barrel action to the CDG. I also had my friend give the Matrix a new paint job ( RAL-8000). So far I am very happy. I had my barrel rechambered/ rethreaded for this action. I am shooting 6BRA. So far the groups are actually a little tighter and the barrel sped up after chopping 3/4" off ?? I had to reduce my load a little, bolt lift was little heavy. I very much disliked the ball that came with the CDG, it makes the lever way to short for aggressive/ sport shooting. I picked up a knob from Lumley Arms, which does not match, but i can always paint it.

As to compare the actions, the Zeus is extremely smooth and refine, but is a little finicky. It has been pretty good to me, but I wanted to make a dedicated PRS rifle and was looking to buy another action and the CDG seemed to be a fantastic option, that was designed for a AW mags and I like the idea of a control round feed. I am keeping the Zeus and have placed it into a Foundation stock.

Then why not go for a TT 7-35?

How’s your TT Diamond 2 stage feel running the bolt?

My good friend is cycling among a few top shelf 2 stage triggers and feels there is a definite perceptible difference between them.

Partly because it actually has a smaller apparent field of view than the TT/premier/minox 5-25 at the same magnification most likely thanks to a patent that Swarovski holds, and partly because I'm waiting for more reviews. They put more mag into a shorter overall package and I'm worried it might not be as forgiving on parallax and depth of field as the old 5-25, which is one of my favorite things about the older 5-25 design. We'll see...

I ended up with another TT525P, screw it.

I really can't give you a good answer. This is my first real bolt gun. My other modern bolt action is a Ruger American Ranch.

To me it feels fine haha. I had to ask another member to verify my work setting it up after watching the ARC trigger hanger video 20 times. I have a small amount of cock on close, but don't really think I can feel it in the handle. (Atleast I think it's cooking a little on close).

I’ve been running 22BRA with hrd kit in aw mags. Can run bolt fast or slow and feeds 100%.I had to tune mags some.Closed feedlips some.About .010 on both front and rear
How’s your ejection with the brass? I just put together a 22BR on the CDG and my brass is coming out between 1 and 230.

I’ll agree with the comment on the ball, I had it home for all of 10min before I pissed it off. I love the ball knobs on my AIs and Badger, but just didn’t gel on the CDG.

Who're you guys using for CF barrels? I see Straight Jacket Armory and Preferred Barrel Blanks offer CDG CF prefits, didn't know if there was a recommendation between them (or another company)

I used X-Caliber savage prefits in 7 PRC for my rifle and my brother’s is in 30-06. So far no feeding issues.

Was wondering the weight of your rig and also, did you have to do any mods to the XLR element chassis for the CDG? Thanks
Alright! Someone showed up to point out that your efforts are worthless and will cause those bullets to fall out of that barrel. Welcome!
